Is My Pelvic Floor in a Chokehold?! 😲

Is your pelvic floor too tight? 💬 Watch this video to find out.

Is your pelvic floor too tight? 💬

A tight pelvic floor isn’t the same as a strong one. In fact, chronic tension can lead to pain, sexual difficulties, and even bladder or bowel issues.

Here are some signs your pelvic floor might be tight:

⭐ Pain with sex, sitting, or using the bathroom (pee or poo)

⭐ Urgency or difficulty starting your stream

⭐ Feeling like you can’t fully relax “down there”

⭐ Clenching your butt, abs, or inner thighs all the time

⭐ A general sense of “holding” or guarding in your pelvis

The good news, these symptoms are workable! Your body isn’t broken.

Pelvic floor exercises can be beneficial in training your pelvic floor muscles to function with greater ease.

Curious if what you’re feeling might be related to pelvic floor tension? Drop your questions below.

I'm so happy to hear that you've connected with a pelvic health therapist who's "penis friendly" and not offended (or afraid) of your genitals. 🥳 And most importably that you're getting the care you deserve and seeing positive results. 💚

That's fantastic to hear, Guy!

Popular conversation usually talks about Kegel exercises to strengthen, but almost never talk about relaxing those muscles. Given my constant state of muscle tension (including holding in my current andropause belly) it's no surprise that my pelvic floor therapist found I was keeping tension in the perineal muscles as well. That tension made spontaneous erections less frequent or non existent. A few perineal massages and some home exercise did miracles.

Dr. Susie, I have a lot of the symptoms of a tight pelvic floor but luckily I found a great pelvic floor therapist (not as great as you though). The worst symptom is keeping my pelvic floor clenched constantly. She has me doing floor exercises that you talk about in your posts. I told you that I had a really bad experience with my previous therapist so I quit her after one visit. My current therapist is as you would say "penis friendly". She did external and internal pelvic assessment and is now doing perineal massages and abdomen massages (and is not offended with my erection). All this seems to be helping me. I appreciate you.
