Really late to this but I agree with Terrell, another point that social media angle is, back then most people only had like 5 channels to watch. It was pick between listening to MJ or watching an episode of Cheers. Now we have thousands of hours of amazing content to watch, podcasts to listen too, thousands of artists that can drop music whenever they want because of social media. There is just way more quality of options in all forms of media now but Drake somehow rises above everyone else. Also love the point Terrell was making, we see all the famous people every second of every day, it’s not like seeing MJ once every 6 months when he’s not touring. So hard to compare eras.

DAMN but it's so hard to pick the best one out of those since they are for different people. Terrell, Drake isn’t as big as mike and it isn’t even close. Even numbers wise, the record he broke was for most top 10s from an album and even that is flawed because back in those times you had to actually put the single out for it count in the billboard hot 100, all 7 PHYSICAL singles he put out from Thriller (which is a 9 song album btw) became top 10 hits and stayed in for weeks. Now your whole album can appear in it because it just counts total streams for that single week and now look, the 2nd week only 3 of those 9 songs that that were in the top 10 are still there. You said numbers wise he surpassed Mike but his highest selling album hasn’t even sold as much as MJ’s lowest and Thriller sold more than all of Drake’s albums combined. Still enjoyed the pod but just had to explain that.
