Interview with the Vampire 1x5 REACTION; lestat is the worst.

guys. I don't like him. although, I did really enjoy this episode and seeing the relationship between Louis and lestat get a little shaky once Claudia was gone. it was interesting to see her drive a wedge between them without her actually being there. I also really enjoyed getting to see another vampire, although, he was BAD news and I could feel it from the moment he appeared. hopefully, we will get to see more vampires, maybe ones with better intentions. the ending of this episode truly felt like the real turning point for this season, seeing that look in Claudia's eyes has me so excited for what's next! 🩢

You have an incredible way with words David! You put it so perfectly!! I think Lestat’s unnecessary cruelness is what makes him feel so evil to me and why I dislike him as much as I do. But you’re so right that they all have their flaws for sure! I would also love to see β€˜The Happy Years’ from Louis and Lestat’s POV’s as well and see how that would impact the story! 🩢

Edit: sorry that comment is so long! Got away from me a bit :P. Lestat is horrible. They all struggle with consistently ethical behaviour (common to Anne Rice's vampires, they're anti-heroes at best and often just charismatic villains) but Lestat turns it against Louis and Claudia and he is cruel with a consistency I think the other two don't have. Louis certainly has a selfish streak we see in the creation of Claudia and he has a tendency to impulsive violence when angry but it's not consistent, it happens in flashes. Claudia is probably the most prolific serial killer in history but, more than either of the other two, I feel like she at least has a consistent ethical position (i.e., all mortals are food but other vampires ought to be treated like people)? I think that is what Daniel means when he says she makes the other two look like 'whiny existential queens'. She struggles with fears of loneliness and being never-changing but she doesn't struggle at all with vampirism as a position in the food chain. Lestat is just cruel. Manipulative, violent, insecure and he directs it everywhere. He also has this thing, shown from the beginning, where he refuses to deal with problems. He thinks problems should just be rushed past and waited out. It makes some sense if you're immortal and alone but it makes it impossible for him to build anything sustainable with another vampire. --- Occurs to me watching your reactions that we didn't see much of the years they were happy. They were mostly skipped over and described almost entirely from Claudia's perspective. I wonder how Louis or Lestat would describe the period between Claudia's creation and the death of Charlie?
