One Day 1x14 REACTION; this has shattered my soul.

I don't have many words to really describe how much I loved this show or to talk about this episode other than I think it did a FABULOUS job at discussing grief and showing the different emotions people go through. there were such beautiful scenes in this episode, especially at the end where we got to go back and see new parts of their day from episode 1, I really enjoyed that. overall, this is a new favorite show that I probably won't be able to rewatch for a little bit considering this WRECKED ME SO BADLY. but a favorite nonetheless. ughhhh why oh why did this have to happen. p.s. I am so sorry for what you just had to watch and witness and also, all the snot 😬🩶

oooh yeah I really enjoyed the way that her death scene was shot! I'll totally have to check out that film! 🩶

Emma's death scene is gut wrenching and geniusly filmed by the director cause they showed Em's last seconds of her life, seeing herself as a young girl in "flashback-style". Its the exact same technique that were used in the most epic/emotional death scene in movie history - in the movie Armageddon...... (1998, with Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Liv Taylor and a whole lotta other Powerhouse actors. ) .....and with all that soundtrack score elevating it to perfection, that scene in Armageddon is unmatched (without spoiling too much for you Ryann, in case you haven't seen the movie yet ; )

I do think it was incredibly interesting that the date she died was also the date that they had originally met and also the day that we got to follow. especially with the quote because it was already such a significant date and her dying on that day made it even more so for Dexter. it was beautiful storytelling and even though we missed things like the weddings and the funerals, I loved getting filled in on what happened throughout the year in the next episode. I actually didn't even put two and two together with it raining on the day she dies and him saying that but oof- that hurts 🤣 I adored this show and these characters so so much and will think of them often! 🩶

I probably still would've cried this hard too even if I knew what happened, the storytelling and the acting was soooo incredible that it just hits you! 🩶

So what did you think about the date? The 15th July (St. Swithin's Day) is the day they met and is the day they show us with them every year and then they turns out to be her death day. That Thomas Hardy quote that she reads to him at Christmas, about that day being a special day in our lives that is significant but we don't know it until later. Also, how about the saying: "If it rains on St Swithins Day, it will rain forty years hereafter". Every year the day is sunny until the day she dies - and it's raining. Also, it's so interesting how it's just an arbitrary day in the year so we don't see her parents or his two weddings or her funeral. So we are just getting literal glimpses into their lives.

Girl, I cried just along with you! This series was achingly beautiful.

My boyfriend and I had read the book several times 15 years ago and knew what was coming in the last episode. We still both sobbed so hard. This story is so good.
