Young Royals 2x5 REACTION; I have never been more stressed.

this episode was probably the most it has felt like a rollercoaster yet. the constant changing of feelings and minds and decisions was giving me whiplash and creating even more trust issues than I already had bc of this show. I understand where everyone is coming from and I was so happy to see that we were able to really listen to each other when talking about the 'book' and them looking at each other like they were talking about their situation and finally seeing the other's POV in the situation. I adore simon as always and am happy that he's staying strong in his decisions, but I also don't want any pain and suffering for Wille either, I want happiness for them so badly!! I'm gutted that simon isn't allowed to sing his song either and I'm stressed still about the August/Sara situation but we shall see how that goes. woohoo for no Marcus 🎉

Exactly! I’m glad they explored the theme that the easiest option isn’t necessarily the most fulfilling or rewarding option.

Yes!!! I loved that line and that scene! It felt so honest and real! I was so happy Sara told him that ‘he didn’t love Marcus’ bc I feel like that was so important for him to hear. Things with wille will be harder but if that’s who he loves- it isn’t fair to him, wille, or Marcus to try to just ignore those feelings for the safe/easy option! This show is brilliant! 🩶

One thing I don’t think has been mentioned is Simon’s comment to Sara when he told her that he kissed Wille: “You’re supposed to tell me to forget Wille and be with Marcus!”
The first time I watched Simon try so hard to forget Wille and lose himself with Marcus this season, I was STRUGGLING not gonna lie.
But I found this line to Sara so interesting. It explains a lot. Things with Wille are so complicated and messy because of the video, trust issues, Wille being the crown prince. They have a very special connection and Simon is head over heels for that boy, but he is TIRED. He desperately wants something comfortable and less complicated. And it should be that way with Marcus on paper. I get Simon’s frustration when he says earlier to his friends: “I don’t understand why I can’t just fall in love with him!” (pre-gaslighting I think) He’s trying so hard to escape his feelings and all the pain.
Simon, you silly donut. YOU ARE IN LOVE with Wille. Thank God for Sara here, honestly. Speaking facts and much needed. Even she can see where Simon’s heart truly lies. When you repeatedly bury your face in someone’s sweater that you stole, not to mention writing a whole song about them, you know you are whipped.

oh wow! yes - I love the way he portrays Wille's anxiety and panic attacks, I relate soooo hard. he does such a great job of showing that without it being over the top to get the point across and it feels SO realistic!
omg, the Taylor lyric is taking me out 🤣

totally agree with you! it was heartbreaking that this was taken from simon and while it isn't really Wille's fault, I also see how that can be put together, because it really does all just come back to the video. like he said in the episode 'how long is he going to be punished for the video'. ugh, poor simon.
totally agree! while it is hard to watch, everything came out so badly to simon in this episode and you're right, it's just more ticks into why he has trouble trusting Wille. which is why I loved the scene of him going to Simon's and laying out the information he was told and what it could potentially mean so clearly, just so he knew.🩶
yes, when they are finally alone with no noise and can be intimate, it's magical 🩶

totally agree. Wille went through SO much in this episode from the hot and cold with simon to learning all of this information and about august being next in line and the options he may have. my heart was hurting for him watching it play out! 🩶

omg no way they wanted to cut that scene! it was soooo beautifully well done! I'm so happy they kept it! I totally agree - that is the saddest most romantic thing ever. and yes! I was so happy he received information and went right to simon, which is such a great step building that trust again!
I think Edvin has done such a great job of showing what anxiety and panic attacks can look like for people and not necessarily in a dramatic way. it is so nuanced and exceptionally done! exactly! it's painful bc you can absolutely understand both sides and realize that they are both so valid in their decisions ugh, that pain 😭 I'm so curious to see where we go in the next episode!

I was STRESSED about them not closing the curtains at first 🤣 I'm with you- I also had zero air in my lungs!!
totally agree! I love them both so so much and I just want it to work and be easy 😭 I was also so happy that Wille was so open and vulnerable with the information and telling simon he needed to do what was best for him and that he knew he wasn't trying to hurt him 🥹
boris for pres 🎉
simon was shooketh, I was shooketh, we all were shooketh
Im both wildly excited for ep 6 and also feel like I'm going to be sick whenever I think about watching it so that's where we're at 🤣🩶

Something that I love is how well they, especially Edvin, portray Anxiety and Panic attacks. I believe during promo for Season 1 he said that he is drawing inspiration from his own experience with Anxiety and Panic attacks.
They finally learned to close the curtains 🥳🥳🥳

A lot of fans give season 2 the brush off as a weak season, not moving the story forward. But it has so many important lines and it actually does contribute to strengthening Wilmon's relationship through conflict and resolution.

Simon's song he wrote and his solo were going to be a big opportunity for his future according to the choir mistress. The Jubilee is attended by and watched by influential people that could give Simon's talent an opportunity outside school. He earned that opportunity through his own merit. It makes me so proud of him.
To then have it taken away from him because of his association with the Prince is unfair. Especially at a school where all these elite kids get all the opportunities in the world due to the families they were born in to. It's a frustration for Simon, but yeah. It's how the world works and it really isn't Wille's fault. But I can see why Simon decides to distance himself from Wille in the music room and saying that the kiss was a mistake. His relationship with Wille is affecting his prospects in the future (never mind the scandal that will mean if anyone ever Googles his name when he starts looking for work - they will find his sex tape).
Even when he's not dating Wille, his life is affected by their past relationship. It takes a lot to see past these obstacles to the love he has for Wille and he knows Wille has for him.
Then when he finds out that Wille kept a massive secret from him, that again takes away his agency and decision making about his own life, his trust in Wille takes another hit. I can feel Simon's see-sawing feelings through this episode so clearly.
And just as equally, Wille has these same frustrations. Lack of choice, lack of trust in his mother who is working with someone who he wished she would have his back against. Instead he is being asked to put his feeling aside and reckon with this August situation. And Simon's lack of trust in him. Plus, he just found out Simon wrote a deeply moving song about him. It's a lot!
But when they're just together and shut out the outside world (i.e. curtains) then equilibrium is back. I think this is also why their intimacy is so important to the storytelling. It is how they communicate their feelings and take and give comfort to each other.

Wille's anxiety about his role is so strong in this episode. His talk with Boris about how hard he finds it was so enlightening and also the light bulb moment he gets with Boris' advice about how we choose to live our lives. Two of the most famous lines of the whole show.
Then when he finds out about August, though he's angry at the privelege instead of punishment that August is being given by the Royal Court, he is considering that this gives him the freedom to choose.
Then his final anxiety that he may be trapped in the role leads to him throwing up. It's pretty clear in this episode that this role is not good for his wellbeing.

The only way to combat the on-the-edge-of-your-seat anxiety of watching this show, is to watch it again with the knowledge you have so far. Seriously, this is why we've all binge watched this show several times just to take it all in with a steady heart! 💜

i love this episode. the book scene is my favorite and believe it or not, netflix actually wanted them to cut the scene because they felt like it was too "on the nose" but the creator insisted that it be kept. thank god they did. i love that the show is heavily focused on subtext, but it makes it even better to have a scene like this added in where we really get their feelings and understanding of each other laid out so that anybody, even those who cannot pick up on subtext easily, can get it as well.
oh gosh. the "i could be free" scene is probably one of my favorite scenes of the season, and show in general. the reason why this scene moves me so much is not just because of the dialogue,(hearing someone say they could be free with u is the most sad yet romantic thing ever), but because of the sequence of events. we saw a few scenes before this that simon was mad at wille for keeping info from him. in this scene, we have wille straight up tell simon the info he has just learned, as he states, "this is the situation. and this is how i feel". perfection.
wille's anxiety and panic attacks make me so emotional, because i relate to that. even though i have not been in a situation like his, i can resonate with those feelings of being trapped and feeling like u have no way out of ur situation. wille found essentially the only way for him to escape this life that he has been forced into, but now that simon wants to report august, he's lost his hope. what is so heartbreaking is that both simon and wille are valid in what they want to do and neither want to hurt the other in the process.

Episode 5 in every season man 😭 Also that damn music room is cursed.
THEY FINALLY CLOSED THE DANG CURTAINS 🙌🏻 🥳 I couldn’t breathe that entire scene 👀
I felt so much for both Simon and Wille this episode. Like you said, “It HURTS. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.”
When it is just them, they are beautiful together. It’s all the external crap they have to deal with that keeps pulling them apart 🥺
Once again, kudos to Wille for showing maturity and telling Simon to do what’s right for him about going to the police.
The conversation that Wilmon had about the book was absolutely everything! The subtext in this show is just brilliant.
“We can’t choose who we’re born as. But we can choose how we want to live our lives.” Boris I could kiss you. I want this on a tshirt to send to Wille.
“Did he just say he’d give up the crown for you??” Ayub PLEASE, we are already sensitive enough. YES, he absolutely admitted that he has thought about giving up the crown to be free and be with Simon. I think Simon was shooketh.
One thing I love about this show is that nothing is black or white and it’s often impossible to predict.
The rollercoaster 🎢 is ROUGH and the indigestion from this show is real. The curse of fitting so much into only six episodes per season. But it makes you appreciate the good that much more.
Drink some water, get enough sleep, breathe and pamper yourself in between episodes 🧘 Fortunately, the payoff imho is absolutely chef’s kiss 😘 Can’t wait for the next episode
