2024-11-08 05:02:15 +0000 UTCSo yeah, Lightfall was pretty controversial amongst the fan base. The gameplay was great with the addition of the second darkness subclass, Strand, new weapons, armor, and a new map to explore and discover its secrets, but the story left a lot to be desired and left us with more questions than answers. These questions will eventually get answered through the seasons of the year, but players were understandably upset that Bungie went in this direction. We do eventually learn more about the veil when Osiris and Nimbus send us down to the veil containment area to decrypt its history, however, that won’t be until later in the year. The traveler isn’t dead, ghosts just can’t feel it in the same way they could prior to the witness going inside. Almost as though it’s left, focusing on defending itself within rather than what’s going on outside. The ghosts can still channel the light but our ghost describes it as “pulling water out of a well rather than turning on a tap” so it feels like more work for them. A few of Zavalas voice lines didn’t play properly on release, he says so,etching along the line of “I once looked to the traveler for hope, now I look to the allies and hope we’ve built ourselves” he’s still super depressed but hopeful with allies surrounding us. Evaze doesn’t include a lot of post campaign things for Lightfall which are SUPER important in the long term. In short, the Black Heart that we destroyed in Destiny 1 was created by the witness as a copycat of the veil, this didn’t work and ended up poisoning the traveler which is why it was silent for so long, when we destroyed the veil, it began to heal. There is a funeral for Rohan which is quite sad, Osiris fully comes to terms with Sagiras death and lays her remains to rest in the hall of heroes with Rohan. In another mission we save an “oracle” AI named Soteria (kinda like Rasputin sister, she called the Augur Mind), as thank you she tells us “an enemy of the witness can be found on Titan (Saturn’s moon that the witness took), finding this ally is paramount and key to defeating the witness”. So we know at some point we’ll have to figure out what this means. Hope this helps to clarify a few mysteries this video left, looking forward the seasons leading to The Final Shape, the narrative of each flows really well into the next until we reach the Endgame of the light and darkness saga!
