Despite all the action and drama, the show is not one to shy away from comedy. A 10/10 anime in my opinion. As a side note, Team Four Star has made an abridged 6 minute short that summarizes part of the first season.

Has two Breathing styles, Water, breathing and the mysterious Sun Breathing whom he inherited from his late father. Has sensitive smell and a very hard head. Nezuko: Tanjiro's little sister who was forcibly turned into a demon after their family was killed by a demon. Her older brother, Tanjiro, is helping her find a way to turn back into a human. She wears a bamboo muzzle in case her demon instincts take over and prevents her from devouring human flesh and blood. She is under a trance where she sees other humans as her family members so that she doesn't attack them. She is a very powerful demon who uses Blood Demon Arts to decimate demons as well as physically enhance herself. Zenitsu: Practices the Thunder Breathing style, but he's a huge coward. He only knows one technique and can only perform at his best when he's unconscious. Has sensitive hearing and has a huge crush on Nezuko. Inosuke: Uses his self-taught Beast Breathing style. An orphan who was raised by boars, he has the strength and instincts of a beast. Extremely flexible and has a surprisingly good looking face underneath that boar's head. Giyu: The Water Hashira, basically one of the 9 top elites of the Demon Slayer Corps. Was the first to encounter Tanjiro and Nezuko after their family was murdered. Broke the rules when he spared a demon's, Nezuko's, life. Sent the two to his master so Tanjiro could train to be a Demon Slayer. Very stoic, but has that big brother attitude. Sakonji: Giyu's master in the art of Water Breathing and also Tanjiro's. Wears a tengu mask because apparently demons made fun of his gentle face. Has a fatherly vibe with Tanjiro and Nezuko due to losing so many of his pupils. Sabito: An orphan who was a former pupil of Sakonji and friend of Giyu, he unfortunately died from a demon during the Demon Slayer Final Selection. His robe was taken by Giyu which he wears in memory of his friend. Makomo: An orphan taken in by Sakonji prior to Sabito, she was killed by the same demon who killed Sabito. Her soul, along with Sabito's manifested to help Tanjiro train. Tanjiro ended up killing the demon that killed the two of them and other pupils of Sakonji. Shinobu: The Insect Hashira who practices the Insect Breathing style. She became a Demon Slayer after the her parents and older sister were killed by demons, leaving her and her adopted younger sister to fend for themselves. She always has that smile on her face, but underneath she's one of the most sadistic Hashira. Due to her frame, she's unable to decapitate demons, so she uses the poison of the Wisteria flower to give them a slow, painful death instead. Kyojuro: The Fire Hashira who has the qualities of an honorable samurai. Like his predecessor, his father, he practices the Flame Breathing style. He is one of the most powerful of the Hashira and has a great sense of justice. He has a older brotherly bond with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke. Murata: .... who? I literally don't remember this guy. Tengen: A former shinobi who left his village along with his 3 kunoichi wives after rejecting his village's ideologies and eventually became the Sound Hashira. He's the most open of the Hashira and looked up to Kyojuro. He's one of the strongest Hashira, and also the fastest. Akaza: A demon who holds the position of Upper Rank Three, one of the strongest demons who serve Muzan, the Demon King (aka Demon Michael Jackson). He uses Demon Marital Arts to kill many Demon Slayers and even Hashira. He used to be a human, but drowned in rage and despair when the people he loved were killed by other people. Muzan was the one who turned Akaza into a demon after witnessing him killing 67 people single-handedly. Had an epic battle with Kyojuro. Rui: A demon who holds the position of Lower Rank Five. He has the power of a spider and has turned other demons into his "family". He used to be a frail, sickly, but loved child. Muzan visited him and turned him into a demon so he could have a healthy body, as long as he devoured humans. His parents caught him in the act and tried to kill him with heavy hearts. Rui wounded them and left thinking that parents should sacrifice everything for their children and that his parents were imposters. Susamaru and Yahaba: They're whatever. Enmu: A demon who holds the position of Lower Rank One. He used to be a human who couldn't distinguish dreams from reality, causing problems for other people when he played doctor. He was attacked by Muzan and had his intestines eaten. Instead of feeling pain and screaming, he envied and praised Muzan and was turned into a demon. He has the power to manipulate people's dreams as well as mentally cripple them. He's sadistic to others, including his fellow demons, but masochistic towards Muzan. Yushiro and Tamayo: Yushiro had a terminal illness, but was cured and turned into a demon by the female demon, Tamayo. Despite both being demons, they would rather help people medically and fight against Muzan. Tamayo, despite her appearance is one of the oldest and strongest demons. With her blood, she can perform many different kinds of magic such as creating illusions. Yushiro is a total simp for her. Kimetsu are just modern day School boy/girl versions of existing characters as a joke/fanservice by the creators.

Nezuko (The girl with the muzzle), is a demon but doesn't eat people and instead fights for the Demon Slayers. But she's also mute and wears a muzzle as a safety precaution. In the high school costumes, they instead draw a baguette for the comedy.
