Yeah not sure why they did that in the titles. Kind of tough to avoid. Especially since we do it watch along style so skipping it would mean synching up again. So far only one episode has the title felt like a total spoiler (The one where Piccolo loses to Supreme Kai) but even then we didn't know that he withdraws instead of straight up losing.

2023-06-20 18:51:32 +0000 UTCyeah we need to check that out at some point. Just have to figure out if we can stream it somewhere or if we need to buy DVD like we did for DBZ Kai 🤔

2023-06-20 18:47:38 +0000 UTCRecoome is derived from cream and Ginyu himself is milk. Recoome's Japanese name is Rekumu, which sounds very similar to the Japanese pronunciation of 'cream'. with the first syllable inverted.

2023-06-17 00:09:30 +0000 UTC@KC Well milk in Japanese is “gyūnyū” so I’m sure Ginyu is milk himself.

2023-06-16 12:26:04 +0000 UTCIn Dragon Ball Z the dialogue between Gohan and Videl is a bit different, while Dragon Ball Z Kai is more accurate to the original japanese. There's a line in DBZ that always struck me as incredibly sweet, when Videl finds out Gohan was the one who defeated Cell she says: "I'm glad I know the truth, thank you Gohan. Now go, go and be a hero again." I always loved that line and Kara Edward's Delivery was always a mix of factual, honest, and relief, at least to me. The scene between Gohan and Videl here always struck me as some of the best romantic writing Dragon Ball has ever had.

2023-06-16 01:12:05 +0000 UTCNot sure if this was mentioned before, but it just occurred to me. Between the end of DBZA and the start of where you picked up in DBZ Kai there is a movie you could watch and would very much enjoy. It's movie #09 Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound.

2023-06-16 01:04:11 +0000 UTCAfter looking up a dairy product list. I noticed some of unfamiliar ones like Rhee, Gomme, and Ghee. I feel Recoome could be a mix of the first two, and Ginyu… the last.

2023-06-16 00:40:41 +0000 UTCThis actually reminds me that I’m still missing some dairy product names for the Ginyu Force. In the past, I thought Recoome sounded like Raccoon and Jeice… Juice. I was thinking about it a while back when I found out. I didn’t want to get the answers spoiled and then feel stupid for not getting it. So I know Guldo is Gouda, Burter is Butter, Jeice is Cheese (which I get since I'm learning Korean). Stuck on Ginyu and Recoome. I wonder if the noise a cow makes (in other languages) comes into play…

2023-06-16 00:25:43 +0000 UTCYeah, you picked up on the Bibidi Babidi Buu. It's another one of the Akira Toriyama's pun names. Like how all the Saiyans are named after vegetables, and Bulma's family are all named after undergarments. Or the Ginyu force being named after dairy products. Or Videl being an anagram of 'Devil' when her father is Mr Satan. Demon King Piccolo had a lot of minions back in OG Dragonball who were all named after musical instruments. It's just a thing that Toriyama likes to do.

2023-06-15 23:54:39 +0000 UTCYea, Right? Dinosaurs are still a thing. It's odd how we never talk about it. At least not since we drove them out of the cities.
