I thought I recognized the name Bahamut, so I'm super glad you shared this with us!

Fun fact, Bahamut the Dragon isn't a real myth, instead it was inspired by Dungeons and Dragons. The actual Bahamut is a giant fish/whale from Arabian mythology that held up the world.

It's interesting that you two picked up on FF16 feeling like a drama/soap opera at times, because such media is heavily associated with FF's identity and history. Hironobu Sakaguchi, the series creator, and later developers like Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase were heavily influenced by cinematic and dramatic storytelling. This is owed to them wanting to show that video games could be used as medium of emotional and impactful storytelling ever since the days of the Famicom (when story-driven games were far from common). The stories and characters of Final Fantasy are written so much like dramas that works have been made to adapt them into the medium that they were inspired by. Over the years, there have been all sorts of different dramas based on Final Fantasy. There are five different radio dramas for a variety of FF titles, and FF10 got a Kabuki stageplay a couple of years ago. But what you may be most interested to hear is that FF16 actually got a musical in Tokyo just last Summer. The cast was played entirely by female actors over at the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater. I would love to be able to give you guys some means of watching it, but it seems recording the performance was prohibited. Can't find any footage of it anywhere.

Bahamut is not only yet another long recurring Final Fantasy, he's been a part of Final Fantasy ever since the first game as an NPC that was around before summon were introduced in FF3. He's often hailed as the King of Dragons, whose signature attack "Megaflare" deals hefty non elemental damage to enemies and ignores all defense and evasion. He is easily among the most powerful of summons no matter the entry, and appears in just about every title. Hell, some games will have multiple versions of Bahamut that are even more powerful. He's not "a" summon. He's THE summon.
