I wish *I* had a memory wipe for this episode... No, I'm kidding. I just couldn't think of something clever to say for the opening sentence. To be fair, this episode didn't age nearly as spectacularly for me as "Listen" did. As a 11-12 year old, this was an instant classic for me when it came out and a much-needed reprieve from the overall tone of S8 that I wasn't ready for. I remember feeling the grand significant of "Listen", and I liked the twist of the crying child being the Doctor, and the tone in the end feeling uplifting felt nice, but there was just no way for me to grasp the maturity of what the episode was dealing with and I rewatched this one more. This episode, on the other hand, was an action-packed blockbusting bomasticizing blast. I think only a third of that was real words. It has twist after twist after twist after twist. Precisely that many. About 4. Lol. I think I feel the same way as I did back then: It being a rescue mission was a good one, The Doctor being the architect was predictable and good, The two side-characters not actually dying was predictable and bad, and the leader of the bank being a clone was just okay and meaningless. But twists nonetheless. Not much to say about this episode now that I'm older. I liked the scene with the multicolored lighting in the environment, still do, and I really liked The Teller creature, still do. I don't remember this so I'm banking on your recollection in the review being accurate (not watching the full length for everything up to Death in Heaven as I've seen those reactions already), but Clara being told she's clearly been travelling with the Doctor for a while because she's full of excuses is a great line and reminds me of the second two-parter which will happen in S9. She gets called out in a similar way in one of those episodes, and I'll get to that in time. It's amazing how early on these seeds for Clara's S9 character are planted in this season, which until my most recent rewatch I'd mistakenly thought came out of nowhere.

2023-02-28 04:15:52 +0000 UTCI enjoy this episode a great deal. It is a kind of "standard" doctor who story but just done very well. I also love Jonathan Bailey so he makes in even better

2023-02-28 00:29:50 +0000 UTCI haven't watched most of Season 8 in aaaages, and I'm having an interesting experience with it. Didn't like "Listen" much back in the day, but did this time round. I liked this one back in the day, didn't this time. So I'm enjoying the rewatch experience, encountering it all anew.

2023-02-24 10:59:18 +0000 UTCI took him saying that he cant promise to kill at face value. Just saying it is not in his moral compass to kill someone, and I think that's what they intended because *forgot her name* says that he is a good man after.
