Making of "Tag"
Added 2021-04-13 18:59:42 +0000 UTCI've been wanting to do a WWE themed comic for a while and with WrestleMania on the horizon it seemed like a good time to figure one out. As parents we often tag in and out like tag team partners and I thought it would be fun to show this literally.
I had a really hard time with the wrestling panel for the 1st draft. I was starting to worry this might be above my skill level, but once I got the crappy version down on paper, I had a better understanding of the scene and was able to swing the "camera" around to get a more dramatic angle. After that the 2nd pass came together surprisingly quickly!
My 1st draft had Cooper with a steel chair, which would have been awesome, but his ity bity arms and enormous head ended up making the pose impossible!
I made Fran's costume a generic luchador, Dad Cat was based on Ultimate Warrior (J would have preferred Macho Man, but the colors and face-paint worked better) Vincent was Sting and Cooper was Big Show-ish.
J came up with the "Taco TMonday" shirt a little while ago but Dad Cats arms have been in front of the words for the last few comics, so I had to wait!
