We were leaving Walmart when my 8yo pointed to the missing persons poster and asked whet it was. I answered as in the comic and he replied in kind -but more surprised than panicked. We both laughed as I explained and he said "That's good because otherwise I wouldn't want to come back to this dangerous store again!" As you can see, I upped the drama for the comic version! :)
I dabbled with removing the text in the 2nd panel so the reader would have to think a bit more about the joke, but I worried it could be missed completely, so I put the explainer back in.
The last panel was a challenging draw. I wasn't sure exactly where to set it as those missing posters are normally in the section of the store near the exit, but those parts aren't as immediately identifiable and hard to Google reference pictures for. I briefly considered driving to Walmart and taking photos, but my laziness won out and I just kind of winged it -putting a wall to their left and then suggesting a store in the distance. It's funny because artists are often scared of weird perspectives in case they mess them up, but personally I like how you can fudge the angles a bit and call it arty! :)
