Making of "Yucky Banana"
Added 2025-03-12 14:00:06 +0000 UTCI read a story (a while ago, so I might get some of the details wrong) about a mom who's kid loved Paw Patrol yogurts. They wouldn't eat any other kinds, which gave the mom an idea! She bought a pack of Paw Patrol stickers and stuck them on foods the kid wouldn't eat. Low and behold -it worked! Absolute genius! Sadly my guys were too old and wise(?) to fall for it by the time I heard the tale, but I thought it could make a funny comic.
I played around with the idea and basically had a comic with just the first 4 panels, but then I realized I could kick it up a notch by her using the same trick on Joel! Now I know I rage against the "dummy dad" trope, but Fran acts like a moron so much, I think she's owed a win, plus this is hella cute! Him happy with his Dragonball Z salads haha! 🥰
This one went relatively smoothly for as complicated as it is! The only real issue was in panel 3 where Fran is handing the banana back to Vincent. Originally I had her holding the banana, but, wow... no way the internet couldn't be trusted with that! 😅 I considered changing it to an apple, but then it either had to be green and the creeper sticker wouldn't pop, or red and get lost against Vincent's top. In the end I decided to make it a moment later with the banana on the plate and her hand moving away. Crisis averted!
