Tadano, as was the norm, was tired after his practical. Upon returning from his Practical, his priorities were simple: rest and recuperate! His completely average character meant average results and thus average outcomes. He was given his grade, sent on his way, and given his vacation without much ado.

However, while average himself, he didn’t keep average companions.

Case in point, the Komi-san the Kunoichi who couldn’t approach him now that circumstances no longer demanded they be together.

“…” Komi could only watch and stare at her Master while he lounged alone in his teacher’s home. Gone were the days spent huddled together, the need for closeness, and careful attendance to one another of the practical, instead it was replaced by regular, common days of a Sorcerer learning Sorcery… while his Familiar was left to her own devices. All alone and with nothing forcing them together. “…”

Komi found herself intrinsically aware of the renewed distance, and whereas the distance brought her comfort before, she now found herself longing to return to Tadano’s side. However, every step to his proximity sent shivers up her spine and fear to settle within the depths of her belly.

What if he found her frightening like all the other boys did? Her Kunoichi blood was strong. More than enough for those in close proximity to see her as a monster instead of a succubus. Girls deferred to her and followed her, while men ran from her, and so she was alone even when she was with another.

Tadano had to stay with her and remain in her presence during the practical, but that was no longer the case.

He could tell her to leave him alone now.

And, Komi trembled just imagining hearing those words. 

So, staying away and keeping watch over him was the best solution, despite the fact she didn’t want to—

“Ah, Komi-san, you’re here!’ Tadano, however, made his play while she was lost in her thoughts. In truth, he’d noticed her earlier, but approached her only after mustering his courage… and seeing her hands tremble from the corner of his vision. Concern won over fear handily after that and he approached his familiar while she was lost in thought. “We can watch those shows I told you about while we were away!”

Tadano’s acting was terrible! The fact that he was nervous and embarrassed and maybe a tad frightened was obvious. Though he managed a smile and match Komi’s wide gaze, he was clearly stricken by a numerous amount of warring emotions. 

But, that didn’t matter, since he extended his hand towards Komi-san and she’d instinctively taken it.

“!!!” Komi could only stare at her own limb in shock, while Tadano gave a relieved smile that shook her more. Going from fretful, worried Kunoichi to embarrassed, shocked Komi-san, she found herself unable to resist as Tadano’s nerves forced him to turn away and begin walking towards the couch they’d share. She’d have easily been capable of resisting, being his physical superior, but she found herself focusing on the warmth and grip of his hand instead. “~!”

They were just average, ordinary hands, but his actions carried through with ease. He caught her while she’d been worrying, knew that she couldn’t approach, and took the initiative all on his own. Now, as he dragged her forward, Komi forgot all about those moments where she was praised and feared as a monster. All she could do was cast her face down, hide her scarlet-tinted face behind a curtain of hair, and allow herself to be led. 

“Ummm, ah… let’s start with the first episode of something, so you can get caught up!” Tadano stammered slightly, but powered through his concerns with the knowledge that Komi didn’t resist. She’d looked lonely, so he’d gone after her. Now that he’d succeeded, he knew he had to carry through, so he did, despite the fact he was sure his face was red and his heart was trying to jump up his throat. “Let’s see… ummm… I’m just watching some nature documentaries right now, but if you want to see something else first...”

“!” Komi couldn’t shake her head no fast enough. Coalition shows were produced by Coalition companies which meant Coalition citizenry. That meant lewdness. Much lewdness. And, Komi felt that she couldn’t hope to stand what she was already feeling. Though they were already sitting down, he was still holding her hand! She forced herself to look up and give him an answer, despite the fact she could feel herself tearing up with the tips of her ears feeling like red-hot furnaces. “T-that’s fine.”

“Ah.” Tadano could only withstand the full might of Komi-san’s visage as a normal individual could hope to. Not wearing her mask and completely scarlet, Tadano had to hold back the urge to hold onto his heart as it went from trying to leave through a path of least resistance and go straight through his ribcage. From the slight point of her nose, to the slenderness of her jawline, her features were all delicate and enrobed in perfectly pale, pinkish skin that was tinged the deepest scarlet. Even with how intimidating she is, given her power, skill, and abilities, a regular man could not hope to survive the force cuteness she exuded… and that was without considering the fact that those things could provide stark, irrefutable contrast to the cuteness and make it stronger than one could ever imagine! “Okay.”

In short, Tadano was struck with the last hurdle of socializing Komi-san: Gap Moe Ex!

As an average person he had no hope of withstanding the attack—

“That’s great! I’m sure you’ll like this show, Komi-san!”

But, Tadano was an average Sorcerer, not an average male.

Tadano went ever forward, clicking away through his shows, not noticing the look that came after the surprise and shock, as Komi soon realized that she was spending time by her Master’s side instead of simply staring for afar.

Which was good, because he’d been incapable of going on if he’d seen that one.
