Poor Ms. Gibson. She may be a helicopter mom, and need some serious anti-anxiety medication, but she really didn't deserve any of this. I hope your takeaway from this update (and the next few) isn't necessarily that his mom needs to lay off (although that's TRUE) but rather that Fletch isn't a perfect person either. He would have had to deal with her panic one way or another because Kinley through him under the bus, BUT-- she could have known he was safe at least.
PS - Judas' sass brings me so much joy.

You could have at least done a check-in. “Hey, I’m alive, I’ll call with details later.” Something, *any*thing. And now I have to wonder if he’s going to give her the whole story. Because from what she just said, all Kinley gave her was panic fuel. Like an ass. I kinda hope he does tell her everything, because Kinley deserves as much of an ass-reaming in this aspect. Ms. Gibson does need a chill pill or five. But she’s in the right here. -patpats Fletcher- And Fletchbis gonna have to find a way to make it up to her, especially with Kinley adding a whole layer of panic to it.

We are also hoping we’re speaking to people out there who grew up with overprotective parents 😇. Fletch’s lower key worrying: Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

First time taking the car by themselves, going to a concert, taking a trip out of the country or across the country. But you HAVE to let them. Don't place your issues at their feet, it's beyond unfair. If I haven't heard in two days when my kids are traveling I will send a text that says. You doing okay? and they text back yeah. And I go about my business. Keep your fears and anxiety to yourself and make sure they are prepared for any emergencies and they know you will drop everything and come get them if they ask.

2022-07-13 12:20:22 +0000 UTCI've always felt like telling a story that makes people relate to multiple (if not all) characters, is a sign of a strong writing. It's something I take a lot of caution and pride in when I write! You don't want your antagonists to be so unrelatable that theyre only good for one thing-- hating on them. And you don't want your MC to be so "perfect" that they can do no wrong in the eyes of the readers. Having a balance really adds to "slice of life" as a genre too. I appreciate your kind words! <3 And showing Fletch having an all around BAD day with his prosthetic is something that I agree, I should include at least once in this comic. :)

2022-07-13 12:05:00 +0000 UTCI didn’t have time to comment in the morning so here I am in the afternoon. I really like how right you get all of the characters. Mom’s and Kinley’s worries were justified, they made sense (even when Kinley was a douchebag so quite often). From his point of view, ratting Fletch out was a good idea (c’mon we all know we would at least be tempted to do that if that was our friend leaving with a stranger). If our son went MIA on us for over two days while traveling (in addition with a stranger), I’m certain we would react the same way. Obviously Fletch’s and Judas’ reactions made sense from their perspectives. In other media, other than MC’s povs are often forgotten because all that matters is MC apparently so it really is great that you do it and you do it so well. Furthermore, I absolutely love how you portray Fletch’s disability realistically (to the best of my knowledge ofc). You showed how tired and red (or swollen? Both?) his leg was after a lot of walking in New Orleans. Now you show him without the prosthetic but still in the sleeve/ply sock/liner (my knowledge is really limited). Splendid. As much as I adore Fletch, I love your depiction and low-key wish you show him (maybe in extra) during one of his bad days when his leg doesn’t allow him to leave his bed and walk much. Pain is awful, but that does happen to people with this disability. Honestly, best Patreon subscription and my currency is so much weaker than USD. XD
