Didn’t I talk about this too in the video? I mean, I said pretty much exactly the same things :) the reason I ask is because I’m trying to understand if you’re “thinking out loud” or trying to convince me of something?

2020-06-13 12:16:11 +0000 UTCThe thing is with the whole scene here showing Gotou's and Kyouko's interactions is to humanise them more. They aren'y outright bad people. It's a very complicated shitty situation. Is it toxic and borderline immoral? Yes, definitely. But I stopped "hating" Kyouko after they expolored her backstory in S1, and settled on just disliking her - though I understand how she could end up like this. Same with Gotou. Also the use of the cutesy music that annoyed you is done purely to show they're very flawed, yet complicated and multi-layered human characters, just like everyone else. They aren't always toxic or depressed or angry... Gotou, for instance, is just tired from the stresses of Life, Shogi, his wife in a coma and is using Kyouko as a coping mechanism as much as she's using him as an affection/attention replacement from her estranged relationship with her father - and most likely confusing those feelings as "love"... and I just love that the series takes the time to show us that side of characters that would otherwise be seen purely as "villians"... Even if I still strongly dislike both of them.
