It has been a while since we've seen the Deshrouder Demon, so I decided to bring him back for a special scene with Desdemona.
If you've listened to my podcast, ComicLab, you know that my wife let me in on a secret. Romance novels are smut.* Those "trashy paperbacks" that moms carry to the beach to read while their kids frolic in the surf? P0rn.* If your impression of romance is Victorian women with heaving bosoms pining over scrawny Earls, you're missing out. We're talking shifters, vampires, harems, reverse harems, monster girls, and much, much more.
And, by reading romance novels, I've found some ways to improve my own work.
As with anything else, I had to read a few authors to find the ones who deliver the s*x-to-story ration that I prefer. Katee Robert's work is the best I've found so far, with much of the story told through the naughty parts.
Her series, Wicked Villains, takes characters you recognize from The House of Mouse, and reimagines them in ... very... different circumstances. The book featured above — "Desperate Measures" — is the first in the series. It's centers on Jasmine and Jafar. (Yes, Jafar... not Aladdin.) The second book tells a story around an unconventional love triangle involving Hercules, Meg and Hades.
It doesn't hurt that the author is a pure delight, on Twitter, TikTok, and yes, Patreon.
*OK, OK... not all of them. Just the good ones.
