Throwback Thursday 9/2 - The Gilded Glutton Contest

This weeks Thowback post is a good one. For those unfamiliar, once upon a time there were fat men clubs! Yes they were a very real thing and not fabricated for the purposes of gainer story fantasies. These clubs were basically just clubs for rich people, because back then fat was associated with wealth(the only thing I'll say is "back in the good 'ol days"  ever in history hehe). Now certainly this historic material provides great horny fodder for us in the modern times and this is where we find ourselves with this piece.  

This piece is basically a condensed illustration from a story  idea I had about a contest that would be held at one of these fat men clubs similar to like a Beauty Pageant where there are different events for the contestants to compete in. In the annual Gilded Glutton contest there exists 6 categories: button Popping, belly jiggling, belching, eating, the weigh in and the fan favorite swim suit portion. This drawing depicts the weigh in portion of the event. 

The 3 men competing on stage are not actually my original characters but characters drawn by the incredibly talented @Vetrowolf on twitter.

This drawing was particularly fun because it was a nice change of pace to draw fat men so well dressed and dapper compared to how I usually draw them- straining out of too small clothes. Now there's certainly some of that as you can see with their vests but by and large they're very well dressed Barons.  I also enjoyed making them all look like such immaculately cocky bastards who can't stand the other competitor. There's always a somewhat competitive undertone to gaining. Gainers always notice when there's someone larger than them in a room or conversely they take satisfaction when they recognize that they are the largest in the room for example. So within this story the 3 competitors find themselves constantly on par with other and as successful titans of industries and proud gluttons each in their own right they take great issue with this and I find their petty fuming's and begrudged glances to be humorous. Here they all are as the top .1% of fat men in the world but they're being that petty, I just find that funny and hot because it speaks to how gainers really are striving for that undisputed level of "fat". Additionally, the winner of this contest becomes a part of the exclusive club that might as well be the fat illuminati known as the "aristofats" a cut above some boring old common aristocrat. A pun I continue to pat myself on the back over. 

The other characters included in this are Bubba who is the most dressed I've ever drawn him who's vest has also completely given up any pretense of trying to stay together. Bubba is a former winner of the Gilded Glutton contest and member of the Aristofats, so he can judge the event. But really he's only there because the meals provided for judges is legendary. The other Judge is notably smaller from the other men, even the contestants. His family started the club and in typical nepotism fashion he was able to be a member of the Aristofats despite the fact he would not have won it by merit alone. Gotta keep things realistic somewhat after all haha. 

This piece was another important drawing in the lead up to me starting really improve I feel. Having to draw 5 whole subjects, all of whom are fat was something I was not familiar with at the time and it was definitely difficult learning to consider scale and such. It was also a big test of stamina because doing background and staging and things was also considerably hard. Artistic ramblings aside, I hope everyone enjoyed this deep dive into the piece!
