SUMMER UPDATE: The future of Memories of Arcadia, and a message to NSFW patrons

Greetings, Patreon! It’s officially August already! This year’s been one for the ages, and even that’s an understatement. I’m not here to dwell on the state of the world around us, though. I’m here because I want to be transparent about a number of things.

For starters: Memories of Arcadia is nearing its end. I predict that it’s nearly 70% to completion, and that we’ll end this story at or around 24 pages total. I learned early on that my pages can’t all be 10,000 pixels tall, or taller, for that matter, so I’ve had to split several pages apart. This is both an effort to get more pages done more quickly, as well as a means for me to be more careful regarding my art software’s technical limitations. Turns out, once you hit 10,000 pixels high, Paint Tool Sai doesn’t really want to cooperate!!

With regards to the Memories of Arcadia project as a whole, I understand it’s probably far from what you’ve come to expect from me as an artist. While I don’t feel this is something that warrants an apology, I do want to make one thing clear: this entire project has been serving its purpose. I took on this project to tackle a number of issues that often prevent me from launching any kind of artistic endeavor, among those being my perfectionist tendencies, and my bad habit of over-planning. Both of these cause projects to screech to a halt, if they ever even start in the first place.

But in the time since I started this project, I’ve been able to hone my skills and practice for much greater things!

I’m learning how to build and panel comic book pages!

I’m getting over my overly perfectionist line art tendencies!

I’m growing into a better storyteller!

These are all things that have long been major goals of mine, especially having been fascinated by comics as a medium since I was a child. I’m eager to make more, and I have one character to thank for being so much fun to work with that I was able to tackle these goals head-on. Of course, I’m talking about Mamabito!

Which leads me to another important subject...

Since this Patreon was launched, and all the way up to this day, my most popular tier has always been the Not Safe For Weasels tier. This surprised me from the beginning, having always been the most expensive tier, and not having much NSFW content in production leading up to the creation of this Patreon. Even now, there are very few actual pieces of NSFW art on this page. And many of you still stick around! That’s perhaps the biggest surprise of all!

I’d like to apologize for not having nearly enough NSFW content to satisfy my top patrons, and I would especially like to find some way to make it up to you. And I think, as things stand, I may have a solution to help me break into taking the NSFW art production thing a lot more seriously. And she’s the very same solution that’s spurred me into drawing up a storm these last several months.

Not Safe for Weasels patrons: you’re about to be the sole recipients of Patreon-exclusive NSFW Mamabito content!

In fact, what if I were to tell you that NSFW Mamabito content already exists? You shouldn’t be surprised! I’ve been developing this character and the world around her for a long while now. And we've already seen some rather revealing art of her~ I guess there's really no excuse for it! These things just... happen!!

It also cannot be understated that Mamabito was able to bring me out of a major art slump, allowing me to pick myself back up and advance in ways I was unable to before. By showing off her NSFW side, I can more easily and comfortably expand NSFW content out to other characters! She will act as the springboard that will launch us to ever unsafe heights!! Er, that is... Oh, you get it!! 

With that said, the content itself is not quite ready to show off. Reason being, a pivotal figure in Mamabito’s life has yet to be introduced! Once they arrive, this content will be much, much easier to share with you all. Until then, I’ll have to be creative with the content as it’s produced, and keep this mystery figure mostly faceless! But once they arrive, I hope you’ll be excited to see a lot more! And maybe, just maybe, they’ll be the final piece of the puzzle allowing me to finally give this Mama something to laugh about~?

I also have plans to wrap up some loose ends that will be left behind after Memories of Arcadia is concluded, by way of a special epilogue chapter that will follow up on a few things. The above-mentioned pivotal character will also be making their official debut through this chapter! If we include the epilogue along with the comic as a whole, the entire Mamabito story could very well span as many as thirty pages before it’s over! It’s quite the undertaking, but I’m confident that it can be done!

Also!! My Mamabito Mother’s Day Art Contest winners will see work started on their prizes alongside production of the epilogue chapter! They’ve had plenty of time to wait, and I don’t intend on making them wait for thirteen more pages of comic to be completed before I start on their promised prizes! And, to prospective commissioners, please understand: contest winners MUST be attended to before I can EVER even consider opening commissions. They take priority!!
