Development Update #6

Hey guys! Time for another progress update. Wait, progress update? But where’s the build, bro? 😡 Okay, let me explain.

The progress is kinda slow at the moment. That’s because previously we hired a new quest designer and were spending a great deal of time introducing him to our workflow. Now we think he’s all locked and loaded and ready to consistently pump out content for the game.

We also were teaching a new animator - YuraN235, and now he’s all ready to get to work starting this November! Here you can see one of the test animations he made. Looking good? Together with our quest designer he'll be working on the big list of sex and interaction animations for Lindcliff and the game prologue.

Our next step is to hire an environment artist. That’s the essential team we need to create the Lindcliff village and fill it with content.

A lot of things are being prepared for the upcoming 0.3 build both in terms of content and game systems.

3rd Day of the Prologue

On the 0.3 update you’ll be introduced to the 3rd day of the prologue. Alisa’s state is getting worse: she starts hallucinating and imagining things, especially in the basement…

We also added more content to the 2nd day featuring 3 new quests: Cursed Basement, Broken But Focused (big and variative photoshoot quest), Echoes At The Door.

You’ll meet the new character - Alan. He’s a journalist who came from the continent. There’ll be 2 sex scenes available with him.

Since previously many players were struggling to level up Grace, we added an interaction with a jump rope.

New location

As of the 3rd day, you’ll spend almost the entirety of it on the new location, since the family decided to go camping. Here you’ll find a pond, where you can test your fishing skills, a cave, and a mansion with many secrets.

Unlike the cave pictures from the previous update, it now has improved baked lighting and is full of details.

These locations will feature 5 small quests and 1 sex event.

Effects and UI

Effects applied to the character (e.g. Wetness, Freezing, Make-up…) now appear in the tab menu. Hovering over them with a cursor gives you more information about said effect.

Some effects also have a visual overlay and change over time according to their state.

Survival

According to the roadmap, this update you gonna be introduced to the needs system.

The survival system consists of character needs like satiety, hydration, toilet and sleep, and also of things like mood, body temperature, and arousal.

Arousal is increasing naturally over time and by doing lewd activities. The max arousal gives Horny effect. When the Horny effect is active, you can satisfy yourself with masturbation and sex routines.

Throughout your gameplay you will have to watch your needs and keep them on a good level. Needs, for example, have their special effects on borderline states. Keeping your satiety high (90%-100%) will make you gain weight, keeping it low (0-10%) - lose weight. Also, there are consequences of not satisfying your needs. For example, not sleeping enough will make your screen darker, and, eventually, your character will fall on the ground.

In the prologue needs won’t affect your experience much, since all the food and drinks can easily be found in the fridge, you always have places to pee, wash and warm up. On the 3rd you’ll be introduced only to the basics of surviving outside like fishing, berries gathering, collecting water, etc. But after the prologue it will truly become the core of the Deluded’s survival gameplay.

Open world gameloop

Aside from adding new content, the team is also working on prototyping locations, activities, and quests for the open world. Here you can see the greybox of the new Lindcliff.

ArcadiyVicont has already done a great job of working through the gameloop after the prologue and continues to make it better every day. However, it is still in the raw stages and won’t be available in the upcoming 0.3 version. So, most of the things listed further will make more sense after we unlock the open world.

As you know, the game starts with Alisa waking up in the grave and finding out that all of her previous life has gone. Now she has to survive in a hostile environment and start a new life.

In the beginning of the game, before the drive, you’re given a choice to either start the prologue or skip it. If you choose the prologue - the man drives you to the house. If you choose to skip it, he drives you to a random place in Lindcliff. But many things have changed since, and now you’re required to have a permit in order to stay in the town. If Alisa gets caught without it, she gets kicked out of Lindcliff - to a so-called “slums” area. Alisa will spend her time there trying to figure out how to get a permit (or sneak inside Lindcliff) and find out what happened to this place.

This area is pretty harsh and that’s where survival mechanics fit well in our game narrative.

You can satisfy needs by gathering resources, trading, exploring, leveling up and upgrading your house (shelter). You can also do so by finding a job.

Jobs

Jobs in “slums” are quite limited. For now, we’ve prototyped jobs like drug dealer, alcohol dealer and loader.

There'll also be an opportunity to get a job as a farmer's assistant, which is an order of magnitude more prestigious than any occupation in “slums”. But it’s harder and requires more grind.

NPCs

Of course, survival in the early stages and sometimes even in later ones is impossible without the help of other people. In the game you will meet many different NPCs. Some will reach a helping hand without asking anything in return, and some will abuse their power.

NPCs react to Alisa differently. It is dependent on her look (cloth, cum, dirt) as well as on whore, crime levels, and her reputation amongst different NPC fractions (hobo, citizen, priest, farmer, addict, prisoner).

We’ve already added 100+ clothes tags so that NPCs can react correctly to what they see. But there are not many dialogues representing it yet.

Alisa can ask NPCs to provide her services. The answer depends on the reputation.

Based on character reputation (positive or negative) same NPC will provide different types of activities.

Technical changes and QoL

Some improvements on the technical side have also been made.

So, what’s the estimated release date for 0.3? In the upcoming month we plan to crunch hard to be able to drop it by Western Christmas. Wish us luck and stay tuned! ✊😶
