I need your opinion on something...

you guys know why I disappeared, twitter does too- but youtube doesnt.
disappointingly, i checked my youtube comments for the first time in a while and there were quite a few hate comments calling me names- saying that im a cash out because i have a patreon... just a lot of hate for this break that ive taken ://
they assume ive quit youtube to just do patreon i guess?
funnily enough, the last video i posted did the best of any video ive ever done- so my page got exposed to a lot of new people who just dont know me and probably dont care about any explanation i give about why i took a break... and yet i still feel bad. i still want to tell them why and that ill be back soon...
but im also really scared, like- i NEVER share info on the internet that could be used to hurt me. im NOT over losing my friend yet... i still cry like every single day. im scared if i tell them why they will try to hurt me with it- make fun of it or be mean about it...
i cant make my mind up on what to do... what do you think i should do?

I would agree with the consensus here. It's not worth it to share that kind of deeply personal information to people who likely either won't care or will actively use it against you

They exist solely to spread hate, they don't contribute anything else. You don't owe anybody a reason for stepping away. You're incredible and don't deserve the hate. We all want to believe the best in people, but I've been around long enough to see the internet's anonymity prove that wrong time and again. It's not worth the risk to your peace. If you feel like you have to say something, I feel like your best bet would just be to stick to a very non-detailed statement about suffering a loss you're still getting over, but if even that feels like too much right now, I'd say nada. Once it isn't so raw, you can always provide more info then.

Knowing you, that you have anxiety over people using personal information to hurt you, I would tell you to keep it between your trusted friends and yourself. People take breaks all the time on YouTube and every other platform. It's none of their business, and you don't owe random people an explanation. PS: It's understandable that a few comments by randoms stick in your head, but your followers will give you grace. YT has a lot of people who post comments as performance art to be edgy or get a reaction. Do not let a few random comments get to you. You've done an incredible body of creative work, and we're all very proud of that, and you.

If they're mad, then they give you free view counts and interaction with comments. Those who know will support you
