Except for the fact that it is still an animated series. I don't believe characters age unless the story tells me they do and it is actually stated in a future episode that Gon is still 12. To answer your first question I too have been having issues with needing to resync my videos so I'm not sure what that is about. Do you know how they are watching the series.
