So the magnet wasn’t made with just the lightning and iron itself. We see Senku used copper wire and lacquer on the iron bar to make the magnet. Also yes, the light powered by the electricity wasn’t bright enough to see outside of Japan lol. The reason the show did that was to show the audience that after 3,700 years with the earth being dark, light has finally returned. The show does a good job showing us how long 3,700 has actually been imo.
