Thank you, guys! And happy holidays! I 💜 your friendship, humor and candor so much. Although I would really love an uncut video or Patreon watchalong, I understand having a profession that could make that a challenge. Would you consider talking about the portrayal of parents/family in recent queer content? Just like the storylines, it makes me so happy for younger queer audiences to see positive representations in the media, like the portrayals in HS andYR. YR offers an interesting contrast w/a mean queen and Simon’s loving mom. I came to terms w/my sexuality as an older person, and it’s still a major challenge to talk about w/my family (strict religious upbringing, cultural challenges) Anyhoo, can’t wait for new videos. Be well!

Thanks for this, great Q&A! I'd been missing your content. Looking forward to future videos :)

Happy holidays! Loved this, thanks for sharing 💜

Happy Holidays! I will second that I like y’all pausing the shows/movies to react rather then talking over/missing things. Thanks for the Q&A ❤️

Happiest of Holidays my friends!

Hi Alex and Josh, Thanks for the Q&A. You were honest and insightful and it left me very thoughtful. Loved the explanation for how the channel came to be: friends in Uni in a smaller gay centre, then roommates later, then seeing a need for more thoughtful feedback on queer media. And channelling your history as friends into an ongoing discussion of LGBTQ representation. Your channel clearly comes out of your friendship and intelligent, thoughtful discussion. Looking back at your series of videos, this has really borne fruit. You are both very good at asking "how does this queer media authentically (or not) represent the questions that queer people face?" And how often a well-told movie or series reveals a world that either we know all too well (difficult, tragic) or a world with much more hope than we might have originally experienced. Sometimes the newer stories about young queer people like HeartStopper or Young Royals are emotionally more raw. They can leave queer people who never achieved that level of self-understanding at that age, possibly grieving that now. Your comments about what you would say to your 16-year-old selves was astute. I came out in my mid-20s and made the most of it, telling the whole world as it were in one summer (my friends joked that I'd likely walk into a convenience store and tell the clerk 'I'll have a bag of chips and by the way, I'm gay'). And I've been clearly out ever since, and lucky to be in happy relationship with my partner Eddie (and cats.) But when Love, Simon came out a few years ago, I felt like I experienced a bit of a gut punch. Because I was so very far from queer self-understanding at that age. So your commentary in all of your videos is so helpful because you are looking at the wide variety of queer experiences, and for so many in the LGBTQ community there is a sense of something that was lost earlier. Redeemed? Yes, in many cases. But the loss is still felt, and these queer stories are very healing. We are in Florida visiting family, and on Thursday we had to drive a long stretch of freeway for a family event, so we drove early to a local gay suburb near Fort Lauderdale and grabbed a coffee. We walked around, taking in the atmosphere. Lots of gay men, many retired, we guessed, at outdoor restaurants and pubs in mid-afternoon, with a clear sense of relaxed joy as they laughed and chatted together. And then we bought a dessert and drove over to the family gathering. As we drove there, my default anxiety response kicked in. There were a number of guests coming I had never met, and while our extended family is very loving and accepting my anxious mind went to "what if these people we meet somehow judge us or don't like gay people?" I was struck by the thought "you just came from a community where thousands of gay men live. Any one of the people you saw could be just as judged by strangers for nothing more than being gay. You are part of a vast community. You are not alone. Don't worry so much about being judged." Thank you for the Q&A, and thanks for making this time-consuming creative effort in the midst of your busy lives. David

I totally appreciate the fact that you stop whatever you are watching to discuss what just happened or share your thoughts. Sometimes I watch others and they’re talking over what’s happening and I’m like “you’re missing key conversations here!” Hahaha thanks for this Q&A - it was great!!

Merry Christmas and lots of good wishes for the New Year, Ingrid! I agree, I would love uncut reactions to Young Royals, wouldn’t care how long they are, or whether there were trains in the background, Alex swearing or tech misbehaving! x🎄❤️

Graham & Ruth May

I am anxious for more YR reactions as well. 🙂 And bit sad about not being able to see an uncut version. It would be a blast! (I think! Rs). Happy Holidays, Ruth! ♥️
