Also to clarify a bit. Though Naruto played with the others, at the end of the day he went home alone. And he was constantly ostracized by the adults in the village. They've shown him before playing and then you see the parents take the kids away and say don't play with him. So he felt as if he didn't really have friends at the end of the day.
