I always had an affinity for the moon... so no wonder she was my favourite :D

Had no idea tbh until maybe 5x13 when she got her whole story and also made me realize that celestia and Cadence don’t have these type of episodes. It’s a basic opinion now but I’m glad I was sold on her since day 1 of her returning

you thought it would be an unpopular opinion to have Luna in the lead? - Nah no way... 🤣

Ahh so Definitely Luna in the lead. Okay so this isn’t unpopular. Interesting.
Very frustrating. I’m rarely made about eps but this one was so disappointing.
And of course it didn’t discourage me. Especially since we know what came after this which still boggles my mind 🤯🤯

- Some notes/thoughts/facts: -
To answer your question about the hierarchy/favorites of the princesses... did you just say 3 princesses? 🤨🤔 - I count 4 Alicorn princesses 😋
They should be kinda equal in the show, thus a neutral view should be kinda this:
1. Celestia
2. Luna
3. Cadence
4. Twilight
But if you ask the fandom who likes whom the most it depends on who you ask. But there are polls made about it:
1. Luna (48%)
2. Twilight (29%)
3. Celestia (14%)
4. Cadance (9%)

These odd looking ponies (horses?) to the left were already seen before in the "Magic Duel" episode with Trixie and are the envoys of "Saddle Arabia" given the name "Haakim" and "Amira":

In the middle is "Prince Blueblood" known for his appearance in "Best night ever" (S1E26)
To the right are the duke and duchess of Maretonia
On the right is Royal Pin (Pinprick):

I wont go into detail here, because my fellow commenter's already told you the general opinions about this episode - The equestria games were so hyped up... and somehow... we got this. - It was degraded to a B-Plot, though it should have been the A-Plot... It was disappointing.
The inclusion of Spike's fear and self-doubt was kinda misplaced here, still its not his worst episode by far (**coughs** at "Spike at your service" and "Princess Spike") wasn't it for the cringe-worthiest singing moment in history... well - ever! - Holy macaroni that was truly bad... and a promised premise of a great episode about the equestria games.
I am by far not interested in sports and something like that, but this kinda thing in a magical world setting with magical / mythological creatures... just count me in! - And Ice Archery had an awesome concept - it definitely would have been nice to see more of similar stuff involving magical tools and special rules.
Anyway the conclusion and lesson was still a good one... but the placement and the way they did it was just bad...
I absolutely get your frustration, i was there too - Anyway thanks for reacting to this and i am glad that this didn't discourage you to watch further 💙😁

It’s more just them involving EQ Games in a good amount of episodes and also gave a lot of fiery moments and purpose from rainbow dash. Don’t seemed like it was going into a bigger and more climatic place. But then Spike hijacks the entire episode with a problem that didn’t feel strong. And they mentioned training everyone but it only showed like 1-2 events plus the demeanor of RD changed as she wasn’t competitive as before. I easily overhyped it but I think when you do make entire episodes about it then it should amount to something decent

So I'm not saying this is a great episode or anything, but I don't really get the expectation of the Equestria Games themselves being a big deal. Yes, several earlier episodes led up to it, but none of those episodes were actually *about* the games. They were all about a particular character's issues. To me it stands to reason that the episode where they take place would be the same.

I love the message of letting go of the past… but this episode didn’t explore that in any capacity. And it made the Equestria Games about Spike.
Yes a very huge L. As with you, so far it’s my least favorite and one I’d go to say is just bad.
Yeah I get the spike hate a lot now. He was insufferable this episode
The Equestria games got shafted so hard. It did not deserve that

The message was the only thing I liked in this ep about letting go of your past too live in the moment to feel better, and even that could’ve been done way better in a different episode, the bronies and all the fandom does agree that this was a huge L episode, the games were very built up over two seasons and this episode was so disappointing, they hardly showed any of it, I’m not sure what they were thinking when they made this epsiode, this is one of the many reasons a lot of people hate spike and hate or dislike spike episodes, I hate not liking an Mlp epsiode because it is my favorite show, so it hurts me to hate an episode or completely dislike it, but I’d say this episode would probably be that epsiode for me, and I’m not even a big sports fan I just would’ve loved to see a nice epsiode focus on the equestria games which was a great concept and a really fun idea for an awesome episode but unfortunately we didn’t get and we got this half games spike epsiode.

Your not wrong on this episode being one of the worst ones. All the build up since season 3 about the Equestria Games, and we got this flop.
