My Little Pony Season 4 Review

This season managed to be the most magical with many sprinkles of frustration as we are given some of the most innovative and series pushing developments while also being stuck in the mud all throughout. It seems the creators had a spark and explored the series’ new found direction with Princess Twilight, unique and fun boundary pushing pony personalities which made this season the most interesting thus far. We then enter many potholes of slower and uninteresting episodes as the personality instinct pays off in the finale episode which does excuse that run but makes you want those stories to be better told. Then the disappointment of the Equestria Games is a glaring disappointment as it completely botched the expected build up. Finally, it’s quite the quick metamorphosis as the finale showcases the brilliance of the shows strong suits with its build ups, full circle, usage of a stagnant Twilight, villains, discord, and music to unleash a rainbow and friendship nuke of stupendousness that instantly becomes an unexpected pinnacle of the series and with my time in animation. Add on the additions of Fluttershy’s new form, Pinkie bringing Maud, being apart of AJ family, and Cheese Sandwich into the mix, and overall consistent episodes and plots, this season is as chalk-full of goodness. You get the good with the bad but the good is amazing. I can’t ignore the weak spots but one cannot undermine the greatness and progression. Every time I ask where it can go, it does not fail. 7.5-8/10
