Currently he’s still weak so he’s with Kate for whatever reason. Peter does have an ego and is out for himself so even if it seems like he’s doing something out of character it’ll probably end up being just like him and make sense. Just keep watching, the show isn’t dumb, it just waits to give answers. Maybe longer then some would like but the answers will come.
