I'd recommend Princess Weekes' (channel name Melina Pendulum) video "Empire and Imperialism in Children's Cartoons—a super light topic". It's so fucking good, it matches Jackson at his best. She looks at four different cartoons and how they handle the subject of empire (Avatar: The Last Airbender, She-Ra, Steven Universe, and Star vs the Forces of Evil). She had an excellent insight. That in She-Ra and in Steven Universe, empire is being used as metaphor for toxic or abusive family dynamics, rather than a direct representation as in ATLA. She blew my mind, and it's rare that I say that.
