Season eight was... not the best, in general. But I love that it's Arya who kills the Night King, and they manage to tie it all back to her first lessons: What do we say to the god of death? Remember when Bran said “I wasn’t sure where you’d go next” to Arya? It’s because he couldn’t see her and her actions because she’s a faceless man. It’s the same reason Bran knew they’d win but didn’t know how. He can’t see her due to her being a “Faceless man” Also Berrick Dondarion was brought back that many times because his whole purpose was to save Arya so she could do what she did. Melisandre was never lying, was simply not sure who she was supposed to follow, serve and save, etc. all of it connects.

I think men take for granted that for women, it's a privilege beyond belief to be able to choose when you lose your virginity and who to lose it to. I sure as hell didn't get to choose...Tywin's wife Tysha paid dearly for the choice she made...readers remember the horror that happened to Lollys Stokeworth...poor Sansa had the choice made for her (twice!). I thought the scene was gratuitous and such obvious fan service, but taking control of her agency - from choosing a sword over sewing needles to putting her life on the line for her little brother and the whole world - is why so many people admired Arya to begin with. Why sooooo many people (mainly men) had such a problem with it, I'll never know. (I kinda wish Jorah had gotten at least a SNIFF of the goodies from the dragon queen. Dany didn't owe him any cheeks, but...you know? Cut the poor guy a break! 🤣)

It's so fun watching you guys have the exact same reactions we had all those years ago: "Damn, they gonna send out the Dothraki?" "They can't shoot some fireballs first or something?" But she still got the job done!) Now imagine waiting EIGHT YEARS for that basura. Eight...years we'd heard about the Long Night and the Night King, and winter lasted for...what, a night? 7.5 rating on IMDB, and that's being generous. And you also saw why - everybody's plot armor was made of the thickest Valyrian steel. The only real major character we lost was Theon. By the middle of the ep, you KNEW that none of the big guns were going to die - not even Jamie's one-handed ass. There are entire YT vids breaking down how terrible this war was, especially after GOAT battles like Blackwater, Castle Black, BotB, etc. Get mad at me all you want, but y'all KNOW Jon Snow made up those fugazi-ass battle plans. Tywin Lannister would've had those soldiers right and tight! 🤣🤣🤣 Re: Edd's death I'm probably the only GOT fan alive who liked Ser Alliser - yes, he was a miserable bastard, but the man stood on business. And while I watched Sam's fat ass blubbering while Edd got got, his words echoed in my head: "When you're out there beyond the Wall with the sun going down, do you want a man at your back or a sniveling boy?"

I'm fine with agreeing to disagree on the #1 & #2 favs, but some of Addison's arguments were wild imo. Putting the expectation of her being as cunning in regards to political maneuvering as Little Finger and Grandma Tyrell is arguing in bad faith. She started this whole journey as an 11-12 yr old girl and you're comparing her to people that have 40+ yrs on her and the majority of that was in actively in the Game. She had no real world experience to work from when she was like 14 having to hide her identity from Tywin, who at that point was essentially enemy #1. And you're talking about her journey being behind the scenes when Jon spent half the show at the wall with no primary targets after him, just white walkers. And his ops there were a result of his decisions, not ones inherited by name alone like Arya. Jon's stuff was mainly centered around the wall the whole time, while Arya had to keep on the move crossing countries and seas! As a kid! Jon was a full adult and created his own enemies, like Robb did.

In case of Bran most of the people do not have a clue about his powers ect, those imporant ones he could easly convince about his powers so that is none issue in the end. As for Jon the most important thing is he would never sit on that horrid chair, but that is beside the point. North is not a actor at this point they are beholden to the rest of the kingdoms just to survive i dont know if they could even raise 1000 men properly. After Kings Landing Danny would get killed eventually by somebody propably, but at the same time there is nobody that could properly face her ever, people at this time still despite everything respect power. She has a Dragon and massive army so she could be there for decades. The most important factor is that people would be just too tired to do anything about it, they need food and stability. And there is no coherent Paramouncy anymore beside Vale. The rest is spent completly maybe beside Dorne ( did they ever even mention that Dorne will be ruled by a Princess, Dorans daughter ?). The only thing that could have ever worked for them is co rulership with Jon being Queens King no the other way around and not fucking around with Cersei.

Yes he is Jon’s relative but I don’t think anyone trusts him to be lying and scheming at this point. He’s too detached to make up things just to see Jon on the throne I’d say. Dany definitely had the force but the entire North stood behind Jon and I feel the rest of Westeros would be inclined to follow him more as well. He‘s known as a hero, from a very honourable house and he spent his entire life in Westeros. Most of the Westerosi see Dany as a foreign invader with an army of savages and they‘re wary because of their memories of the last Targaryen ruler. Him having a legitimate claim just sealed the deal. Also Jon put his love affairs (Ygritte) aside to honor his responsibility (The nights watch) “I have to go home now” Rob Stark actually did the exact opposite. In case of Jon, i was mostly thinking in the case of merit and overall power projection, she got the dragons, army, and indisputable claim. Bran is his brother(Bias in the eyes of other people) and his ability might be know but to a few, on the other side everybody that could argue is mostly dead. I also love the Bran crypitc behviour but its just not enough and his lines are very much TV show cyptic not very well written from other characters perspective, lets not forget he is one of major POV's. I simply needed much more from him. I agree that having that information is super important but they also bring with them always winter so you know kinda obvious. It just kinda lacking in terms of scope and impact in the end and thats why people had issue with him being a king. I love the idea of his character but what they showed us is severly lacking.

I agree mostly except the thing about Jon. In the show, it’s already known and accepted that Bran sees all. He‘s a reliable source. He saw Jon‘s birth and Rhaegar and Lyanna‘s wedding. Thus it‘s confirmed that Jon is the last male heir of House Targaryen, son of the last crown prince. That gives him a stronger claim than Dany. And again, I thought all of Bran‘s dialogue and him being so stoic and emotional was very fitting and interesting to watch. I like cryptic characters. And it’s because of him we knew where the Night King was when it mattered and how close their army was. Imagine if we hadn’t known when they’d attack. That‘s where it comes down to different perspective and tastes

SPOLIER ALERT !!! I agree with all of your points mostly here ! And thas how it will end in the books and i will have no problem with this being the endpoint for those characters. Danny will go mad and the wheel will be broken with near immortal omnipotent Bran, but that is not my problem, my problem is the road there, Danny's will complete her coinflip as a Queen but we simply will get more points moving her to breaking points,and should get more in the TV show, her lost dragon baby should not be so idiotic, that was the problem in the show it was jarring cos of cut content. Missandei represents more than her friend, she is the symbol of her doing good with slavery ect we just did not get it in the show they have minimal exchanges between them later on. She had all of the claim becouse without her Jon gets nothing, his claim stands on nothing but a passage in a book that is confirmed by his friend. In the books we will get it confirmed by Reed and hopefully his reborn will be more significant than in the show. Jon will kill her but he will not be just moping around and rehashing the same lines constantly. And Bran is not boring in the books becouse he is a character in the show he became nothing not becouse of his new persona but becouse of lack of action and i do not mean swordfights, just simply doing anything. He is the true "good" end, but from the show perspective he did not earn it in any way. Arya can still kill the NK as the prince that was promised could be a princecess and she is a northern princess. The end will look similar to the show but the road there will be drasticly different, and that is my biggest problem we lost so much becouse they had no idea what to do with the characters most of the time. End plot was driving the characters they had no agency.

SPOILERS Do you want me to go into every single plotline and character? No, I don’t agree that overall it declined as drastically as you make it out. I think people misunderstood certain characters and were pissed when their fave didn’t come out on top. The fact that most of the fandom thought that Dany should have been on the throne shows the level of media literacy that these people have. Even though people are hellbent that it was somehow out of character (hard disagree) she developed into a tyrant herself and would not have made a great ruler. Her entire claim was over with as soon as we knew about Jon and she still insisted for what? Because she went through stuff? Because she had good intentions once? That‘s not what makes a good ruler. Bran is a neutral being at this point. LITERALLY the best option for the people. Someone who won’t fall victim to greed, desire, manipulation and everything else that caused past rulers to fail. But people threw a fit over it because it’s anti-climactic and they find him boring. If you only wanted your cool badass fighting and dragon riding faves to have a happy ending of course you’d be disappointed. But if you understand GOT as an accurate mirror to how devastating real life and our real history that it’s based on is, you’d never be surprised or thrown off by the ending we got. Again, it’s all about perspective and what your expectations were. The only decline in writing I can agree to is the dialogue/wording but that’s because in earlier seasons they noticeably pulled directly from the books. More episodes would have been great too but no, I would not change a single thing about the events that took place and where every character‘s story went.

An inaccurate example isn’t a good counter point. Your example mentions the devil telling me to worship him when that isn’t the case for the Dothraki at all. They’re NOT being told to believe in the Lord or worship him. They’re simply being shown his magic as aid. Plus, what we associate with the devil and what Dothraki think of sorcery are vastly different. They doubt but they don’t see it as the literal embodiment of evil. And remember you‘re talking about Dothraki who are already following Daenerys because they saw her burn the khals and step out of the fire unharmed. That‘s magic as well.

Disregarding every argument as whining, and "just watch the show and eat your bowl of slop, be happy" is such a great attitude to have lamo. People complain about the show becouse of drastic drop in quality of writing. This was not a "meh i did not like what happened" this was a complete nosedive in quality of entire show bar music and visuals. Cool. They managed to do exactly that for around 5 to 6 seasons. EXACTLY what you are describing and be able to have belivable world mechanics. I did not have to suspend my disbelief i could believe that this world COULD be real. They lost all of that magic by dumbing down characters to the point of them not being recognaisble. Closing down the WW threat was always gonna be hard. Why not show the failure by losing the North and having to withdraw ? Why not have the wall be part of it ? Why do we have so many of our heroes survive this drastic situation ? Why in exchange of the true end of the world situation we get Cersei as the last threat? A character that is the biggest suspesnion of disbelief wrench? Somebody that did not earn anything they got as a character. We get no Aegon, no Dorn as a player no prince that was promised nothing. The anwser is simple becouse they rushed this season as much as possible while already cutting the episode count of the previous one, becouse they had no clue on what to do with the amazing characters that were given them for free. It‘s called having an imagination and filling in the gaps. They had to have the Dothraki and Unsullied on the front lines for the sake of storytelling. On one hand you argue against them losing so many men but on the other you emphasise the magnitude of the threat the walkers have posed for seasons. They HAD to show us that much failure, sacrifice and despair to match said magnitude. You can call it brainless all you want but part of the magic of television is in suspending disbelief and engaging with the themes, emotions, and characters more than the mechanics. It’s supposed to give us the opportunity to connect emotionally and experience the underlying themes. A good story has to resonate with you emotionally, not just hold up to intense scrutiny at every turn. Try appreciating the story that is being created. Cheers.

Of course they would eventualy get in, but instead of sending Dothraki to sure death for no reason have them do literally anything else ? Place the siege engines inside the castle? Put the Unsullied behind the firey trench ? Its fine to create this trap for night king but not everything had to be so dumb that it takes me out of the show. Bran himself as character is another part of this that just sucks, he did nothing beside getting Blood Raven killed, the whole thing of him being GOT wikipedia is laughable. Im enjoying myself only thanks to EDN guys being goated reactors.
