Deepspace: Deron Captain of the Lota Kalliope X-2 (Ea)(Com)

A commission for last_of_workers

Deron groaned as he walked through the tiny hallways of the Kalliope X-2. The ship itself is amazing. It’s a nanomorph ship, which is the classification for ships that produce and use nanobots for various functions.

One of the best uses for said nanobots is for ship repairs. If something starts acting up and just needs a slight repair, the nanobots can do that. If a part is broken and needs to be replaced, the nanobots can do that too.

If something hits the ship, say a meteor or another ship, and causes major hull damage, the nanobots get right to work and repair the hole in minutes. Which was good, as Deron was hit by an abandoned ship a couple of weeks ago, and had he been in a normal ship, he’d be dead.

The nanobots got an alert that the ship was compromised and went right to work. Starting all around the hole, they worked to create a new section of the hill that was identical to that which was damaged and ripped off.

It didn’t matter how big the hole or damage was; as long as there were enough resources on the ship, they could repair anything, and if they ran out of resources, they would then begin to use their own bodies as the material.

If that’s still not enough, well, chances are you’re screwed anyway. As for getting more nanobots, the ship itself produces them with ease. The only thing it requires is various materials, which are abundant in deep space.

Once they’re mined and stored in the ship, the existing nanobots will use the resources to replicate themselves until the nanobot storage is full again. As for the nanobots themselves, Deron doesn’t even know what they look like, as he’s never seen them.

Due to their size, they’re basically invisible, and he could walk through a swarm of them in the halls and never know it because of how tiny they are. If anything, he might feel a small bit of wind push his hair as they flew around him to avoid him.

Of course, one of the biggest drawbacks about having a nanomorph ship is the costs and space it takes up. Not only do you have to purchase a Ketastar IV or equivalent reactor, but you also have to have a Nanotech computing center and a dedicated nano assembly and storage area on your ship.

Now Kalliope X-2 is a massive ship; if you were to make a scale of one being the smallest and ten being the biggest, Kalliope X-2 was about a seven on that scale. With that being said, it barely has enough room to have all the necessary items.

Forty percent of the internal storage is taken up by the reactor, thirty percent is taken up by the nanotech computing center, ten percent is taken up by the nano assembly and storage, and the remainder is taken up by the warehouse, life support, living area, radio center and control system.

All of that is the reason Deron had to squeeze through the halls of his ship when he wanted to go to something, but as annoying as it was, the benefits of it were worth it. It meant he could work alone out here and enjoy his life in peace, which was a fast change from when he lived on Terrarth.

Leaving was the best decision he ever made, and if they wanted him back, they’d have to take his cold, dead body back. Many years ago, Deron was actually Dmi, a woman who was born in the core of the empire.

Back then, Deron was the first and only daughter of one of the top core empire officials. She was forced to act all prim and proper, always wearing dresses and being the perfect woman, in order to keep her family's reputation pristine.

He hated it though, and wanted nothing more than to travel the stars and explore skies unknown. However, for him, it was impossible since he was kept on such a tight leash by his father. So one day he came up with a plan.

He looted the family vault and filled his pockets with the Utop Credits, which were credits worth a trillion each. He then set up a Volta Masker bomb in his bedroom to go off an hour after he left. He then snuck out in the middle of the night.

He then went to a local underground body customization shop. One that helps you make changes to your body without asking any questions as long as you have credits, and credits Deron had. He had the doc give him a complete change.

So Dmi, the proper princess with her long, flowing, wavy hair and big eyes, was killed, and Deron, the rough-and-tough-looking space mercenary, was born. Deron left the planet after buying the Lota Kalliope X-2 and soon found himself traveling to deepspace.

Deron doesn’t miss being Dmi or a girl one bit, and honestly, people listen to him more as a guy, and the last thing he ever wanted was a reminder of the terrible life he left behind, not that he could go back, since he blew up his entire family’s fortune and destroyed their social status.

As Deron got to his seat to get to work, he was immediately met with a distress signal from Zeta-13. Deron looked it over and had to admit it sounded like a pain, but being able to claim a place like Zeta-13 as his own sounded amazing.

He could start his own colony on it; at least that was his hope as he flew towards it. As he got closer, he quickly learned how dangerous the anomalies had gotten and why the place was abandoned. Immediately after arriving in the sector, a black hole ripped a part of his wing off.

Deron’s ship went into a spiral because of it, but the nanobots got to work repairing it, and thanks to the help of another captain, he was able to stabilize the ship and continue forward. Deron set the nano assembly into overdrive.

Once his wing was fully repaired, he had the nanobots create turrets on the front of the ship to start blasting debris out of the way. Then, once the area was cleared, he had them disassemble them, then activated the heat shield and set the ship to max speed.

Deron entered the spaceport at a great speed, so as one last act, he had all the remaining nanobots create thrusters on the bottom of the ship to make it slow down in time to avoid crashing right into the spaceport.

Somehow Deron made it in one piece, but the nanobots were quite empty now from being overworked, so they were going into assembly mode only so as to reduce the amount of energy and supplies needed to replenish them.

Deron didn’t care, as he was leaving to head to the surface anyway. He met up with the other captains who landed here and were trying to claim Zeta-13 for themselves, and the group quickly went to the orbital elevator.

They all hoped things would be smooth going forward, but the anomalies kept coming. The first one caused the space station to vanish, and the second came soon after. It happened just moments after Lota Kalliope X-2 managed to catch Deron and save him from dying.

Deron blacked out and ended up landing somewhere on the planet. Some time passed and Deron eventually felt pretty strange, which caused her to wake up and look down at herself. She immediately noticed that a good portion of her body was mechanical.

Not only that, though, she was much larger than she was before, almost two feet taller and twice as wide. But the absolutely worst part about whatever happened to her was the fact that she clearly had two massive breasts, which could only mean she was somehow a woman again.

The anomalies were really pissing her off now, but it wasn’t a big deal; she’d simply leave deepspace and find someone to change her back to how she was, but that could wait until after she claimed Zeta-13 for her own.

Deron pressed a button and tried to call her ship to her, but for some reason when she yelled into her coms for the ship to come get her, her own voice echoed through her own head and actually made her eardrums burst.

Deron yelled in pain from it and thought her head had just exploded, but within seconds she found the pain was gone and her hearing was back. She was really confused until her HUD came up, telling her that the nanobots repaired the damage.

Deron was confused about where the nanobots came from; she never kept any on her like that. She was also slightly confused about how they fixed her until she remembered her body had been transformed by the anomaly and had mechanical parts.

As she was standing there trying to figure out what was going on, she got a message in her HUD letting her know production of new nanobots had begun and that she should collect more resources soon in order to keep making more.

Deron then heard her breasts, stomach, and thighs making noise. She thought there was no way she was actually making more nanobots, so she did a scan and sure enough, everything she needed to do so was stored inside her body.

The reactor from her ship was stored inside her breasts, the computing system was in her head, the nano assembly was in her stomach and the storage for resources was in her thighs and big butt. It was like Deron had fused with her ship; actually, she was sure that was what happened.

Deron then thought about that, if she was one with her ship, her ship was able to change parts of itself at will, so she should not only be able to turn back into a guy but also make herself smaller and not as thick.

Deron, using her HUD, ordered her nanobots to change her body back to match what she used to look like. She was excited when the nanobots activated and started to leave her body but was quickly disappointed when an error came up and the nanobots refused to make those changes.

It told Deron that her body type was necessary to store her key components, and her size was the very minimum she had to be in order to store them. So while she could make herself taller and thicker or turn her arms into guns or blades, she couldn’t make herself smaller or a man again.

Deron grabbed her hair and started yelling. This wasn’t just insulting, but this was the worst day she’s had since leaving the empire. Losing her ship, being trapped on Zeta-13 and being turned back into a woman, it was the worst.

The only thing that could make it better was claiming Zeta-13. Deron looked towards the center. As bad as this was, she was determined to get something from it, so she started running towards the center.

It seems fate wanted Deron to be a girl again. Perhaps this time will be different for her, now that she doesn't need to run and hide herself, plus the powers she gets from this might turn out to be quite useful, but only time will tell.

at first glance it may seem to you that fate decided to cruelly mock Deron, but here you should think a little deeper than usual, because what was Dmi's original goal? she wanted freedom and it seems to me that for the sake of freedom she would have done anything.. well, and the fact that she liked being not Dmi but Deron... the thing is that only Deron gained freedom and who knows, maybe she would have agreed to become Dmi again if she had a chance to preserve her freedom in this case... Zeta-13 simply became a catalyst for what could have happened... or would never have happened! who knows...
