Zaxary sat in the captain's chair in the cockpit of Darksyde, a very large cargo ship. Zaxary had only been in deep space for a couple of weeks now, and as scary as it can be, he was actually excited to be here.
Before setting off to deepspace, Zaxary was an assistant mechanic who worked at the White House. Every day from the day he turned ten to the day he turned twenty-one, he was out there working on ships and studying to learn more about them.
After getting older, Zaxary started to dream about going off on his own, perhaps even to deep space and starting his own repair shop, one that was more focused on making life-saving repairs and helping people and not for profit like the garage he grew up working at.
It seemed like it would be an impossible dream to accomplish, as he didn’t make much, and he often spent what he made to improve the lives of the poorer people on the White House who needed those repairs in order to escape.
So the most he could do was stare into space and fantasize about a life out there and then come to terms with the fact it would likely never happen. Then a turn of fate happened. One day while going into work, Zaxary found his boss shaking hands with a dealer from the corporation.
Zaxary was mad and asked his boss what he was thinking. His boss calmed Zaxary down and told Zaxary that he was retiring, so he had no need for the shop. Zaxary got angry again and told his boss he could have run it for him.
Zaxary’s boss placed his hands on his shoulders and once again told him to calm down. He explained he had thought about giving Zaxary the shop but knew that wasn’t what Zaxary wanted to do with his life, so he had something else in mind for Zaxary.
He brought Zaxary to the spaceport and showed him the Darksyde. It was a common cargo ship, but the owner of it made special modifications to it in order to make it the perfect ship for a traveling mechanic, with everything they’d need to set up shop anywhere in space.
Zaxary was impressed with it; inside were all the tools a mechanic would need, as well as hundreds of files on ships and buildings, a lot of which Zaxary had yet to study. There were a lot of parts already on board and plenty more room for parts.
It was almost exactly what Zachary had pictured taking into deep space all his life. Zaxary stopped and looked at his boss and asked why he was showing him this, then he asked who owned the ship they were standing on.
His boss smiled and then pulled up his wrist computer and hit a few buttons, after which Zaxary got a message on his. Zaxary looked at it and found his boss had transferred ownership of the Darksyde to him.
Zaxary looked up at him and nearly had tears in his eyes when he asked him if he was serious about this. Zaxary’s boss nodded and told him he was, and that he once had a dream like Zaxary’s but never got to follow it, and he didn’t want Zaxary to end up like him.
So this was his parting gift to Zaxary after many years of hard and very unpaid work. He then walked off the ship, waving goodbye and telling Zaxary to have fun and be safe out there. Zaxary waved back and thanked him before turning back and looking at his ship.
Zaxary spent what he had left in savings on a few more parts, some custom tools, and some supplies before taking off and heading towards deepspace, determined to find a place to set up his dream shop.
As he traveled through space towards deepspace, he hit the files he now had and began to further his studies. A couple weeks later, Zaxary was in deep space checking out areas to set up shop in an area that best helps the captains of other ships.
In the meantime, he was doing a bit of mining and material processing, since the Darksyde had a processing system built in, and Zaxary had spent his free time while traveling making his own mining system out of the parts he bought before he left.
So not only was he ready to open up a shop, he was now able to mine for his own minerals and create the parts he needs for repair, making him nearly one hundred percent self-sufficient, which will make him a great choice for those looking for repairs in deep space.
As his ship was mining, Zaxary was playing around with the signal scanner, looking for anything that might be interesting. That’s when he picked up a distress signal. He played it and was amazed to hear the name Zeta-13.
Zaxary had never been there, but having worked on ships for many different people over his life, he’s heard some crazy tales, and one such place that had many was a place that was abandoned in deep space long ago, a place called Zeta-13.
It was rumored to be cursed or something like that, but it was also rumored to be a huge place with a ton of resources that were abandoned. Zaxary was still new to deep space and learning the etiquette out there, but he was told that if something like this came up, he could go there and claim it.
That would make it his, which sounded nice; it would also make a great place to set up shop, at least he thought that until he arrived near it and learned why people thought it was cursed. The place itself and the space around it were in disarray.
Anomalies were causing very crazy, very dangerous, impossible things to happen. For instance, as Zaxary was flying towards Zeta-13, water hit his ship and froze solid the second it made contact, causing his ship's thrusters to stop on one side.
He started to spin out of control, but one of the other pilots used a fire-based attack to melt the ice as they flew over him. Zaxary was relieved and continued on, only to encounter another thing that shouldn’t be possible.
Out from a portal came a giant robot dinosaur, which bit the wing of his ship and held on. Zaxary has freaked out and wondered where such a creation could even come from. He also found himself wanting to study it, but as it was putting his life in danger, he had no choice but to break it.
So he used his mining lasers on it and blew its head up so it would let go. After that, Zaxary was able to land at the spaceport. He got out, looked at his ship and sighed. There was some damage, but it wasn’t anything he couldn’t repair.
Zaxary then met up with the other pilots at the square and chatted; he also thanked the pilot that helped him. After that they all rushed to the orbital elevator so they could begin the race to the center of Zeta-13 to claim it.
Zaxary found himself thinking about it; he didn’t think this was a great place to set up shop as it was dangerous, but the supplies here would definitely help him out when he finally does open up shop. It just seems he’ll have to keep looking for a suitable spot.
As Zaxary dreamed about his future shop location, more craziness happened. The space station, along with the orbital elevator, vanished, and all the captains started to plummet towards the ground. One by one, each ship came to grab their captains.
They all seemed to have some sort of AI that could fly the ship for them; Zaxary however, didn’t. he had plans to install one and even had everything to do it, so in order to save himself, he had to use remote controls to fly his ship towards him, which nearly didn’t happen in time.
Along with that, the ship still had a bit of damage and Zaxary along with it, crashed into the surface, knocking Zaxary out in the process. While sleeping, Zaxary had a nice dream about finally opening her shop on a nice, calm planet.
All was going well until Zaxary realized that she was some sort of very large cyborg female instead of her normal male self. It wasn’t super noticeable, as her chest was quite small and she seemed quite muscular, but once she noticed, she was sure it was the case.
The confusion caused Zaxary to wake up and be slightly disappointed that her dream ended. Even as a girl, having a dream of running her shop was so peaceful. Zaxary stood up and sighed as she looked around for her ship.
She remembered the orbital elevator vanishing and then crash landing, so it seemed reasonable that her ship should be in pieces around her, but there wasn't even a single part of it around, which made her worry the anomalies caused it to vanish as well.
Zaxary tried to control it manually again but got an error saying it wasn’t possible at this time. Zaxary looked over and kicked a rock out of frustration and noticed the sound her foot made when it hit it almost sounded like metal.
She looked down and saw that her foot was indeed made of metal, both of them were, all the way up to her hips, which were still human but seemingly enhanced with tougher skin. Both of her arms seemed to be mechanical yet her chest and head were both still human.
Zaxary was a cyborg, just like in her dream. Also, like in her dream, she seemed to be female, with metal plating over her tiny, nearly nonexistent breasts and womanhood to protect them. Zaxary asked how that was possible, and suddenly she found herself watching her ship's previous footage.
The video showed the ship flying towards Zaxary, catching him, then crashing into the ground, then suddenly everything went dark and then when the feed came back, it was of Zaxary’s dream. The feed then ended, leaving Zaxary more confused.
How was she seeing her ship's recorded feed? how did it see her dream and how the hell was she a female cyborg now? Suddenly a ton of information on androids, cyborgs, and tons of other types of robots appeared in her mind.
Zaxary was surprised by this; she was pretty good with ships but was still far off from being a master, but one thing she never studied was robots or anything like that, so how was she suddenly able to access this information?
Zaxary thought about it for a minute and realized some of the files on the ships were about those very things. Zaxary started to sift through more of the info she had access to, and it was all the same as the files stored in her ship for studying.
It was amazing; she no longer had to study them; they were all just in her brain, ready to be pulled up when she needed them, and the second she does, she instantly has a complete understanding of it.
So now she had a massive library of data on ships and all their parts, robots and all that go into them, and even details about space, making fuel, and a mass amount of random other things. Zaxary was ecstatic about this and found herself sifting through all her new knowledge.
She eventually found a bit about herself that was being collected by her system as she stood there. Zaxary was even more amazed to find that she was super tall. She didn’t feel like it, but there was nothing around to compare herself to at the moment to make her feel tall.
She also seemed to be much stronger than she was as just a human. Her system says she can lift way more and run faster than her old body, though it still wasn’t all that impressive for a being with robotic parts, as it was all still within the limits of a human.
Zaxary didn’t care about that, though; her new strength was her mind, which now housed so much precious knowledge for her, knowledge she could spend days sifting through just for fun, but she didn’t currently have time for that.
She looked towards the center. There was still a race to claim this place, and seeing as Zaxary was in need of parts to make a new ship. She was going to have to claim Zeta-13 so she could build a new one and get back to her main goal: helping the people here in deep space.
