I just realized. I wonder if Jin having a specifically Irish accent has anything to do with him being a vaguely elfen ginger. Too tall to really pull off leprechaun but while from a Japanese perspective he's kind of just a more slender and wiry oni, from a Western one him being some kind of Irish fae makes a strange amount of sense.
