(Poll) Patrolling Mini-Game: Your Opinion Needed!
Added 2025-05-12 19:16:09 +0000 UTCHey folks, I need your input!
I’m currently writing scenarios for the Patrolling mini-game, and I’d love to know:
Would you prefer these scenarios to include player choices, or should we keep things simple?
Here are the two possible gameplay loops I’m considering:
🔹 Option 1 (Simple):
You start your patrol
A random event happens — e.g., teens spraying graffiti, someone vandalized a vending machine, a purse thief runs by
A mini-game is triggered
You receive a reward (usually credits for your shift)
🔹 Option 2 (With Choices):
You start your patrol
A random event happens
You choose how to handle it — by the book, in a community-minded way, or selfishly (like taking a bribe)
A mini-game is triggered
You face consequences — e.g., if you take the bribe, you earn more money but lose reputation with your colleagues
Personally, I lean toward Option 2.
I like the idea that your choices carry weight and shape your story.
But I also get that this is a side mechanic, mostly for farming credits, and it shouldn't ruin your main quest progress just because you made a few selfish decisions during patrols.
So what do you think?
Should patrols come with meaningful choices and consequences? Or should they stay straightforward and risk-free?
Comments
I would say be careful with this one... us players/consumers will always say more options and such, but you should consider your resources as a game developer and what you can get in scope. 2 is the ideal and what I picked, and the most quality... but it is more work
