Okay, THIS is what I love in shows -- getting down to the family dynamics, and here we finally get to WuXian's adopted family, the Jiang's! Ooooooh, I am LOVING this:
* The kind-hearted father
* The badass mother
* The precious sister
Based on episodes 1 and 2, I have a feeling I am DEFINITELY going to go back and re-watch them when this season is over, because I have SO many questions! But I am sooo into this family's dynamic and where it's taking this series! My favorite episode so far!

I missed that! @.@ The symbolism in this show has been SPOT ON and is one of the things I really like about it, in addition to the gorgeous animation and these awesome characters. Okay! Good to know we WILL get some background on that! I know I'm going to ask about it in Episode 7's reaction (which I just recorded) so I'll sound repetitive I'm sure, haah!! Thank you for the heads up, though! :D And for not spoiling, haha!!

We are given a bit of the backstory on Wuxian's adoption in Episode 10, so I won't spoil you on that. One of the things I love about the Donghue is the subtle symbolism they use...for example the scene with Fengmian and Madame Yu with the Red Dragonflies. Red = Passion, energy, anger and intensity and is also associated with the "root" chakra. Seeing a red dragon fly areas (physical, financial, emotional or spiritual) related to your root chakra may need transformation. If you rewatch that scene after Madame Yu is walking way you can see the dragon flies dropping from the sky and dying. This is not the first time the directors have used symbolism to help layer the story they are telling. The transitions they use from scene to scene are so good. And I love how they show the passage of time. Really this Donghua has such subtle beauty to it.
