Yessss, I am SO EXCITED for the cave scene; I've actually been looking forward to reading it since I started the novel! And here we finally are! Ooohhh, and that makes sense about the indoctrination -- I was wondering if she was deriving from any...actual...historical figures, but I'm not surprised she doesn't get too much into it. That is interesting that The Untamed got more in-depth with it! Hm. True, true, they do establish that Chao is the warped one, not so much Mao in The Untamed, so fair point!!

2022-01-03 18:20:00 +0000 UTCStopped right before the Great Cave Sleepover, ahh! So touching and so precious a scene right in the middle of al suffering. That lotus seeds extra was too cute. Too cute! Such innocent gifts, I can't. Jiang Cheng stabbing WWX in the same spot? Ahah yeah that happened. Can't remember why donghua has left that out. Lack of time probably. And yes, MXTX loves to leave some things unfleshed, so that we are creeped out with silence more than we could be with gory details. As for the indoctrination I think it's actually dangerous to get deep into that since she obviously referred to the Chinese Cultural Revolution which has been indoctrination in itself, interspersed with gunning down rebels. Not a great part of their history which is actively covered up and all hush-hush in China. I'm more surprised that The Untamed went there in detail. The name of a great ancestor, Wen Mao? Enough of a hint, haha. I guess they got away with that since his sayings are actually of a decent person and it's only his descendants who twisted all that.
