Well, I knew that anything bad happening to Hina would be heartbreaking, but I was NOT READY for the emotional onslaught of this episode - I haven't sobbed like this in a WHILE, y'all.
Rei's promise to Hina, Hina's courage, the GRANDFATHER, and the message of this episode was so powerful - I don't even know where to begin!

Yesss, the tears were…happy tears? Encouraging tears? It’s hard to describe! YES, the obsession with how this series is treating this subject matter SO WELL? It’s hard to say what hasn’t already been said! I may have binged a little after this one, not going to lie! Oohhhh that’s a great point that Rei has paid enough attention to Hina that he knows she likes sweets; that’s so true, though, that she had kept the sweets shop a secret! Aw, Rei! And YES – shipping both of them so much, now! I know that hug would have been the WORLD, but because of social convention; him holding her hand, supporting her, being with her - it makes SUCH a difference, I agree! And he doesn’t even realize it! This episode basically made me SO curious as to how Rei was going to take this situation further and what it was going to do for his growth and the development of his relationship with Hina – this show has me SO hooked! Thank you for the comment and kind words! Here’s hoping for a reprieve from the tears!

2024-09-03 13:37:16 +0000 UTCThis episode is both so incredibly painful and also so encouraging in a very nice way. Yes. I sobbed through the whole thing as well. I couldn't breathe by the end of it XD What else can I say about it other than that I agree wholeheartedly with you? Because I do. About the bullying and the way everyone around Hina handled it and the way Shaft portrays the entire thing. I'm obsessed. I need to watch the next episode ASAP. Something I did really love in this episode was Rei bringing Hina the sweets books at the library because, as far as we know right now, Hina hasn't told anyone that she wants to inherit the sweets shop. She says it's a secret when we find out, so I don't think anyone knows. And yet, Rei has been paying enough attention to her to know that this is something that would cheer her up. That this is something she likes so much that it will, hopefully, bring her mood up and comfort her. It's so very sweet and so very telling and so very simple that it steals my heart every time. Hina and Rei at that bench... Yep, I'm shipping them so hardcore now as well. That WAS a proposal, and nobody can convince me otherwise. I wanted to tell Rei, as well, that just being there and letting Hina know that she is not alone is doing something. Something very important at that, not only because of the companionship of it but also because normalcy feels very nice after something like that happens, the comfort of things being the same somewhere is immense. I also wanted to tell Rei that a hug would have been very nice for her when she's feeling so down. I know that because of Japanese social standards and all a boy hugging a girl who is not his relative would be frowned upon but, come on, at this moment it felt needed and warranted and I wish Rei had gone for it. Things being as they are, I wonder what'll happen next. What with Rei wanting to do some gesture towards Hina. Honestly, a big part of me just wants him to go talk to Hayashida and seek his advice, because I think Hayashida would have something insightful to say about all of this. Yet again, I doubt Rei would the type to share something like this with anyone so I'm, yet again wondering what he'll do. As long as next episode doesn't make me sob as much I'll be okay XD
