Heaven Official's Blessing//TGCF: Novel Review - PART 42 - Chapters 132-134 Reaction!

**HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Y'ALL -- I was expecting one of the reveals this set of chapters, and I'm glad we got it in THIS set right after last week, but I was NOT expecting both Xie Lian being the one to "out" Hua Cheng as using the form of Lang Ying...OR that LING WEN is involved in this whole Brocade Immortal situation, and apparently IN DEEP?! WHAT?!

This story is revealing that things are certainly more dark, twisted, and complicated than they originally seemed...and the "bad luck" does indeed follow anyone that gets involved with Xie Lian...Qi Ying, I'm looking out for you! But now, Xie Lian is bound and determined to protect Hua Cheng -- this is getting GOOD y'all, and we only have one more chapter of Volume 4...

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

It definitely made for a special birthday! :) And yessss, MXTX building the mystery and also giving you juuuuust enough to feel teased, haha! And MAN, XL does have some…LUCK, doesn’t he? I am so surprised by his entire plan but you’re right, LW is NOT someone to be messed with – I was proud of him in his full Sherlock mode! That’s a cool connection to what XL did with HC being essentially the same plan, but a little more “jovial” haha! I love how he “outed” HC, too! Pei Ming just SO CLOSE to the truth – on – MANY THINGS! And the fact that he’s the MOST trustworthy at this point is such a contrast from how I thought of him at the start of the story! Qi Ying is such a character! I love how he plays off of XL and HC as well – it’s so fun and refreshing at this point in the story! And yesssss, I’m getting the sadistic side slowly from XL as well! I HOPE that Qi Ying hasn’t FULLY taken Qi Rong’s place – I have a feeling XL won’t feel the urge to smother him in his sleep. ;) THANK YOU for the pronunciation with Amitabha, too! The word is such a tongue-twister! I’m so glad I wasn’t spoiled, either, and I don’t mind the cliffhangers – at this point, we’re all veterans, right?! Thank you so much for the comment! So glad to get into Volume 5! YESSSS!

Yeah, I'm not sure, either -- in the book, I thought it said centuries, but I could have been mistaken! Thanks for the comment!

Romaniablack

I’m really not sure how Xie Lian and Ling Wen knew each other for centuries if Xie Lian’s first stay in heaven lasted 3 years, and the second- only half an hour or so…

Thank you for the kind words and comment! 🙂And SERIOUSLY, at THIS POINT, Pei Ming is the most innocent of all of them – I am FLOORED. I mean, yes, agreed – his way with woman and some of his actions are questionable but to our knowledge, he’s the least “corrupt” at this point and yeah…the other two have straight up (as far as we know) murdered folks. So. Hm. HAHAHA – I love how Qi Ying is so childlike but also clearly an adult – he’s just feral and I love that Xie Lian takes it all in stride. I think XL can handle feral as long as they have a good heart! But also yessssss, give me that mob boss HC working with disliked detective XL AU fantasy! I want it so badly! It’s so fun how XL found the one way he can tease HC; the shoe’s not on the other foot often, is it? And then we get the soul-crushing reality of his words that he didn’t think it was “easy to be happy.” MXTX…WHY?! Yeah, there’s some deep hurt still in our cinnamon bun and I’m sure HC would be MORE THAN HAPPY to heal it if he could! That is a fair point that XL has a dark, twisted side to him that we don’t get spoonfed to us exposition-style, but is SO present, from his actions against QR to how he handles HC’s actions (He’s an angel, basically) – that’s a great point to make! But yes, these two are so made for each other! I am LIVING for HC’s confusion at WHY XL would possibly have evil on his lips, and XL’s silent internal screaming! 😀 Now for me to patiently wait until the shoe on the truth there is dropped!

Romaniablack

Ooohhhh, that is rather interesting as a callback and connection! Thanks for pointing that out! :D And for the comment!

Romaniablack

Aw, thanks! They are a mess! And yes, there's skeletons in closets all over the place! So much chaos, but a lot of fun -- I agree! Thank you so much for the comment! :)

Romaniablack

your dogs as so sweet! and its truly as they say - the greater the light the darker the shadow - and it truly seems as if almost all heavenly officials have something they want to hide. this chapter was a lot of chaos wrapped up in a fun bundle!

Lue

Totally enjoyed your reaction! I just want to add that HC calling Ling Wen as cruel and cunning, heartless and merciless reminds me of Ling Wen way back in S1 of the donghua warning XL against HC and using almost exactly the same words. It really comes a full circle!

Mo Xiang Tong Xiu Monday for your birthday makes it all the better! Mo Xiang Tong Xiu definitely does a good job at building up your suspicion of a character but making you unable to pinpoint what causes that feeling. Poor Xie Lian's luck getting him involved in this whole debacle before he was given the task by Jun Wu. Xie Lian is crazy for his whole plot to trip up Ling Wen. But it's kinda needed because Ling Wen's so good at thinking on her feet. But our darling scrap-collecting god is just as fast! You've gotta love that whilst Xie Lian felt he should trust Ling Wen in this moment, he still did bind her hands with Ruoye. Pei Ming's instincts are crazy on point but it's interesting that he doesn't trust them and just considers it a mere feeling. The way Xie Lian questions "Lang Ying" to prove that it's actually Hua Cheng is very reminiscent of his plot to trip up Ling Wen, only in a much more jovial and teasing manner. But yes Xie Lian was suspicious of it being Hua Cheng, but just decided to play along and humour our favourite Ghost King. So glad you're getting more Quan Yizhen. He's such a fun addition. Especially with how free-spirited he is. But he is very child-like at times, such as continually asking the exact same question because Xie Lian didn't actually answer as to how a pot of stew became meatballs. And how after Hua Cheng ate and reviewed Xie Lian's cooking he forgot the hard-learnt lesson that eating Xie Lian's cooking put him on bed rest for a full day. All the smiles from Xie Lian in this moment really makes it seem like he has a bit of a sadistic side. Poor Quan Yizhen has now kinda taken Qi Rong's place in the Puqi Shrine. I'm sure you never thought we'd be getting told by Hua Cheng that of the Three Tumours the one that's pretty much the most trustworthy is Pei Ming! You did better than me; Amitabha is one that always trips me up. I believe it's pronounced uh-mee-tah-buh. I blame my issue being that one of the few bits of Gaelic I know is that the "bh" sound is pronounced like "v" so even though it's Sanskrit my mind first goes to Gaelic pronunciation. Quan Yizhan is such a Bro. Xie Lian poisoned him for a second time with his cooking and he's down for the count, but he's still willing to find the energy to go hit some mortals on Xie Lian's behalf. I'm sorry for potentially scudding you with that slight cliffhanger. But the knowledge that Hua Cheng's "evil essence" is imprinted/still visible on his lips a couple of days since they made out in the Temple in the Ghost City was something nice for your birthday. So glad no-one spoiled you with the Ling Wen reveal! I feel like, for the most part, this fandom has been good on the spoiler front.

Thank you for the reaction! Nearly every heavenly official has a skeleton in the closet and in LW's case it's more like a brocade robe in the closet……who would've guessed back in volume 1 that among the 'three tumors' PM is in fact the least to be worried about? Although his way with women is questionable and may be morally condemned, at least he's not forcing anyone as far as we know. While what the other two have done……requires the attention of law enforcement. QYZ is that kid who's forced to stay indoors and do his homework, so he immediately went wild on this summer camp at the Puji shrine ROFL. TGCF is showing slowly but subtly its House of Cards side, but with literal gods and ghost-busting this time, and I'd pay double for a modern AU about how disliked detective XL and infamous mafia boss HC worked together against literally everyone else in the government. Finally XL found an opportunity to tease HC and he's ENJOYING every bit of it. It hurts me bad hearing him admitting he just found out it can be this easy to be happy......we all see him as calm and not-caring any of his bad luck, but deep inside he still hurts. I'd say XL has a bit of sadist inside, he's always so smiley when other not-HC people try his cooking and get all kinds of 'reactions', even politely asking for opinions. They say the way to someone's heart is through their stomach, and in XL's case it's more like the way to someone's heart is through disabling the stomach. So, it's safe to say he and HC are made for each other as the latter has a unique taste for food. The final part where dozens of Taoists have come to exercise the demon and the leader found loads of ghost energy on XL's lips is just pure comedy. And HC might be silently screaming in the background upon hearing this: "WTF HAVE I DONE TO HIS HIGHNESS THAT NIGHT?!"
