Heaven Official's Blessing//TGCF: Novel Reaction - PART 58 - Chapters 182-183!

**SADNESS MORE THAN HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

These chapters may be some of the more somber and sobering chapters I've read in this story -- this volume is destined to make me cry, isn't it?

Now that Mu Qing has left them, Xie Lian and Feng Xin try to fill in the gaps and take care of Xie Lian's remaining family...but things keep going from bad to worse and Xie Lian seems down to the last of his fortunes...what's a former heavenly official to do? These chapters were SO sad, y'all! And I fear the worst is yet to come...

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Heaven Official's Blessing//TGCF: Novel Reaction - PART 58 - Chapters 182-183!

Comments

Volume 6 is basically me floating down a river wondering whether I should cry or go throw fists for Xie Lian and THEN cry. It’s going to break me, I’m very certain of it at this point. I completely agree that MXTX’s writing is INSANELY GOOD for all the heartbreak we’re given! Xie Lian and his family and Feng Xin struggling to SURVIVE are so hard to read. This Xie Lian is definitely not the heart-hardened, numb but pleasant scrap collector we know from the start of the story! MXTX does SUCH a good job writing the real world issues into her story and that of poverty and pride are so well-done and heartbreaking, here. The connection to the servant/master fight is also SO on point, too, right?! And XL sitting there in fear that his friends will leave him because he didn’t compensate them is…JUST HEARTBREAKING! And explains why he doesn’t want to work with anyone in the present, because he’s probably afraid he won’t be able to compensate them the same way. Yesss, “When it rains, it pours.” It’s just bad luck moment after moment and our cinnamon bun deity has just the WORST time with it all…and we’re not even halfway through the book! Thank you for the kind words and comment! Reading these sets have MADE me emotional and I’ll just go ahead and say I’ve only read to Monday’s set coming up and it’s…surprising no one…emotional. But sure, sunshine and rainbows. Yes, let’s keep hoping for that! ;)

Hmmmm, it may be that the fathers in MDZS are more dead beat, but at least it makes QR look better? Haha! What luck for him! 😛 Yessss, it does add to the idea that Feng Xin was a bit traumatized, going after the sword as well. Hua Cheng doesn’t seem too sympathetic, though, in the present. *sweats* That’s a fair point about why Feng Xin didn’t want to shoot. It would be hard to aim an arrow at someone you swore to protect. I agree; I’m happy Feng Xin had some time fo happiness in *so we think* being with Jian Lan. That’s also a good callback to the restaurant post – agreed, him as Nan Feng was really…bad, hahahaha! Yeah, while Xie Lian wasn’t “cruel” to Mu Qing like this master to the servant seemed to be, it can be linked to how MQ clearly felt about the situation. I agree, the social commentary in this section is SO WELL DONE. Definitely applaud MXTX for this in the story and how naturally it’s weaved in. Let’s NOT imagine how bad the queen’s cooking was! OOF. That’s a great point connecting XL kneeling to pick up coins to him apologizing or kneeling. OOF. Yeah, these chapters aren’t making me exactly…EXCITED….for what’s to come! @_@ Yessss, this set of chapters shows the wear and tear of the cycle that was developing around them and Mu Qing leaving makes sense….but is so so terrifyingly sad. Let’s see if next week’s happier! *DARK LAUGH* Thanks for the kind words and comment!

Oh Volume 6 : what a fluffy, light hearted book!! You don’t feel heart broken reading it, and you absolutely don’t want to cry after each set until now !! *goes to crouch in a corner and thinks about the meaning of life* These chapters have been ones of the most well written, realistic and heartbreaking that MXTX ever graced us with!! XL struggle with the realities of life is such a reminder that no matter a Prince or a beggar, if you don’t have means you will have a very hard time surviving!! And that is exactly what XL is experiencing, and against which he is not armed nor prepared yet!! this boy has always lived a life that was somewhat disconnected from REAL life!! And it’s not his fault, as the crown prince of Xian Le and then a Martial God if the heavenly realm he didn’t have to be involved in the menial matters!! But what a cruel wake-up call , what a slap in the face for someone that was a prodigy, worshipped by the masses, favored by the heavenly Emperor himself and promised to glorious things!! In the mortal world, whether its tgcf or the real world, humans shed their pride when it’s a matter of survival!! You don’t recall your position, what you ve been or what people used to call you when your stomach ajs been empty for days and your loved ones lives are in danger and needs medicines!! It’s just so so so real and so beautifully written!! It’s hard to see him bend , shading all pride to collect pennies to eat, just eat and buy medicine to his dad !! That epiphany he had when he witnessed the servant/master fight about his deputies was enlightening for him but also a source of stress and angst! Because He always took MA and FX For granted, they have been by his side all his life, so you understand better his naivete and confusion when QM left last chapters!! But because of what he witnessed and heard he understood things better !! But it also brought him fear!! Fear that Feng Xin is gonna leave like MQ! Fear that he ll find himself alone with an ailing father and a mother on the verge of breakdown! I can’t imagine what he must felt that came in addition of all what he is dealing with at the time! He also must feel guilt that maybe it’s his fault that MQ left because he never expresses his gratitude and compensate their hard work for him!! Like yours, It’s a general reaction at this point when we delve in this flashback and we are just wondering if we really want to go further and learn how painful XL has it in the past!! My grandmother always told me : when disasters come, open the door and go sit because they always come in numbers !! This is completely what is going on with our cinnamon roll diety : downfall from the heavens, losing his kingdom , losing his cherished possessions, his friend, his pride and in the process of losing his father !! MXTX, I love you, but girl you love to hurt us !! Your reaction was humanly beautiful, seeing you getting emotional made me cry because I can relate so much to it. Well, next week a new set of chapters , let’s wait and see what MXTX has for us in them !! Rainbows and sunshine!! Right? RIGHT?!! Wonderful discussion as per usual !!

Be Happy

Qi Rong being a better father than pretty much all the fathers (and some father figures) are in Mo Dao Zu Shi is hilariously true. But is that more a comment on Qi Rong being a slightly good father to Guzi, or just on what deadbeats Mo Dao Zu Shi's fathers are? 🤣 Like for me even fathers we never really got to see (Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji's [absentee] father Qingheng-jun, or Wei Wuxian's father Wei Changze [made no arrangements for his child to be cared for whilst he and Cangse Sanren went night hunting]) just add to the bad rep for the fathers in that series. And we finally get the painful backstory of how Hong Jin was pawned. Really helps explain why Feng Xin (as Nan Feng) seemed so distraught at the sword being broken when they were making their way to Banyue. Also makes my heart hurt a little for Feng Xin that in the intervening years Feng Xin hunted down where the sword was and got it back 🥺 Feel like that adds weight to the idea that it wasn't just a traumatic past for Xie Lian alone, but also for his previous deputies. The servant beating the master, right on the tail of Mu Qing leaving Xie Lian and the latter's realisation of all the thankless jobs he'd done for them. I guess we can be somewhat happy that their own breaking didn't devolve into a physical fight. But also linking in with Feng Xin also being a servant of Xie Lian's too. The fact that Xie Lian's first attempt of cooking was still better than his mother's attempts honestly makes my stomach roil imagining how awful her cooking must be. The bit with the golden belt is that slight bit of levity between Feng Xin and Xie Lian (though it also has that twinge of hurt because that belt is likely the one that gets passed on to Jian Lan). Mo Xiang Tong Xiu does such a good job interspersing social commentary throughout this novel. And the idea of a changeover in regime having little effect on the farmers toiling the land, so long as the new ruler is not a tyrant, is just one of many. But I feel like it links back nicely to when Xie Lian went into the streets, and right next to the regal, luxurious palace was where the poorest in the city dwelled (two completely separate ways of life with differing opinions on what is important in life). Also highlights how the war was very central to the capital as these people further away weren't affected by the war in the same way as the nobles and those that fought alongside Xie Lian. Which makes the whole war and all those deaths feel somewhat pointless. Potentially Feng Xin's issue with not being able to shoot the arrow at Xie Lian is because he still sees Xie Lian as "his Highness", and therefore someone higher status than him and someone that he's been the guard of for years. As a guard Feng Xin likely would have been taught to always put Xie Lian's safety first above everything. But aiming a weapon at him for any reason, even with the surety he feels about his skills, may feel like a treasonous act for Feng Xin. Or the final rung of the ladder to him accepting the fall of Xianle, and his Corwn Prince. Xie Lian not understanding why bending down to pick up these small coins would make him feel the way he did honestly breaks my heart for him 🥺 As the Crown Prince of Xianle he likely never carried money on his person (Feng Xin as his guard or Mu Qing as his attendant would have done that) and certainly never such a pittance. Also, you could make a link between him having to bend down to gather these small coins and the statues of the Crown Prince of Xianle in a kneeling/apologetic pose. Feng Xin making that crack in the wall when the mob appeared to want to start trouble feels like one of his signature moves to frighten off people intent on violence 😂 He did something similar in the first episode of the donghua when (as Nan Feng) he hit the post of the restaurant (and the force cause a tree to be knocked down) to scare off the group harassing the young girl, Ying. Out of him and Mu Qing I definitely think he was the worst one when trying to hide his identity as Nan Feng. It does make me happy to see that Feng Xin found a little bit of happiness for himself as a person, and not as Xie Lian's guard or deputy. Especially amidst all the turmoil, seeing him hum happily does make you feel a shred of hope. Really sombre chapter set that just piles on the pain and worry for Xie Lian, and dread for what's to come. How these events were discussed in present day was extremely light-hearted, and then when you get this flashback it's actually so filled with trauma and angst. The continued fear of being caught by the Yong'an soldiers definitely adds to their stress, and likely acerbates the king's physical condition. Continuous moving to try and stay ahead of the soldiers could mean they've had to leave some stuff behind at times, which now could have been useful to pawn in order to have a little bit more money. There's also been no mention of the king and queen going out like how Feng Xin and Xie Lian do, so there's could be a feeling of being trapped within whatever little place Xie Lian and Feng Xin manage to find for them in each new place. As the money and possessions dwindle, there's also a possibility that the places they're staying are continually downgrading. That and the continuous cycle they're stuck in would definitely wear on their mental health.
