This volume was wild but such a fun ride -- with character development, twists, and chance encounters! Miura, though, give our crew a ship! Please! They deserve it at this point!

Awww, the Tiger names are fun! I love Marmalade and Omelet as names! But then, they’re all great! And yes, Guts telling dad jokes is actually REFRESHING for a change! It feels like Guts is aging with Miura as he writes this, which I’m sure is intentional. I have really come to appreciate Farnese and how her character has developed, I agree! And Roderick! I can see maybe in his *first* scene how he would come off as maybe nefarious, working with Magnifico to set up this political engagement, but I really enjoy his character and his “chad energy” for sure! 🙂 I definitely feel I’m not the audience to comment on Puck and his reference - I’m sure that Japanese audiences approve and find it hilarious; considering the west has appropriated that in negative contexts, I’m just not the one to speak on it, but Puck is Puck, as always! I do love the moment Owen confronts Guts and he’s just…OVER IT. I’m so proud of Guts! Now, get Griffith right in front of him, and that will be the “true” test, but for now, I’m very happy with where he’s gotten to as a character. And Griffith – It is VERY maddening, because I feel like I’ve figured him out and now it’s just a long, long, long waiting game until he makes his move. Thank you so much for the Schierke Cosplay compliments! I’ll probably try to wear it every other week (to give the wig some rest, haha!) And YES, Volume 28 is SUCH a beautiful cover with that giant moon in the background! TALLEY HO TO VOLUME 31! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

2024-08-05 14:30:21 +0000 UTCSo I gave the first 5 tigers names: Omelet, Bertrand, Thurston, Marmalade, and Bucket Head! Just a bit of fun. I love the designs of these very stylized tigers! Such a fun volume! It’s also full of very bad dad jokes coming out of Guts! Well, he is a dad so, I’ll let it slide! Farnese’s character development is fantastic as well! She is putting her magic to good use! She is definitely a slow burn character. I love to think of how far she has come! She is just blooming and coming into her own. I love it! I love Rodrick! Some people, when they first meet him when reading, don’t like him. I actually like that he just stepped up to Guts and called him “Chief”. I mean, after watching the tiger slaughter, and Gut’s dark visage, it takes nerve to just walk up to him and fist bump his breast plate! Chad energy. That face that Casca makes, it is something, and I remember reading about it. I can’t remember what it is though or where I read about it! There are a few Japanese specific things in this volume. Puck taking the money is another “Japanese” cultural thing. I think it looks (odd) to us… Breakfast at Tiffany’s offensive, since we are looking in from outside. I think it’s a depiction of the stereotype of an accountant, money collector. Just a guess… Sir Owen confronting Guts… I have always thought of Guts as the light and those associated with him as such as well. I love your questioning Miura’s depiction of Griffith. Is it maddening? Yes, does it kinda lull you into a strange… feeling about him? Yes! Griffith is setting up the chess board right now and he knows the cheat codes! Loved the Schierke Cosplay! Great reaction as always! One of my favorite covers is Volume 28! I agree, simple is best! The covers do get a bit spoilery too. 2024-08-04 01:16:44 +0000 UTCGreat reaction as always Rom, thank you for sharing it! 🙏🏻 I never expected to address this because it's not something I usually focus on when reading a story (but I think it will be interesting to point out)... As someone who grew up having a similar relationship as Roderick and Magnifico with my childhood best friend, I never saw any sort of "situationship" happening between the two characters at all. The funny thing is that growing up many people did think me and my best friend were gay for the amount of time we spent together just hanging out, etc; so it was more shocking to them to find out we were both straight as hell as they got to know us lmao. I know shipping characters is something a lot of people do to engage with a fictional story but I also believe the amount of projection a person gives to it could lead to disappointment if said projection isn't kept in check. I'm not a shipper myself of anything unless the source material makes it canon, and I'm not saying you are wrong or right in engaging in speculation about Roderick/Magnifico but considering how heteronormative the Japanese culture is (and this manga for that matter), I doubt Miura would have wanted (or have an interest) in exploring that kind of relationship (the closest thing being the everlasting argument of Griffith having a thing for Guts). In my eyes, Rod/Mag are just a couple of dudes who spent a lot of time together and are comfortable enough teasing each other with their schemes and what-not, a bromance if you will 😂 Also, small nitpick... Farnese's family name is van-di-mion, not van-di-mi-nion (you keep adding a "ni" at the end for some reason 😅) hope that helps! Looking forward to Vol. 34 which is one of my favourites. Miura goes god-mode with the art. In my opinion it's the pinnacle of his skill 👀 Keep up the good work Rom, much love! 🤍
