HOLY SEE-- I mean -- KUSHAN DEMON ARMY, BATMAN! Guts unlocks a new "feature" with the Berserker armor and I am LIVING for his interactions with Schierke! A major payoff arrives this volume with our boy Guts, as the quest to get a dang ship and get the hell outta dodge continues to be faced with hurdle after hurdle!
Good thing this Berserker and this little witch have a plan to face them...but...damn, things are getting WILD up in here!

Yeah, it's a fine choice and I get how it works in theory -- I just think the version of it in this volume looked a little goofy -- I like Guts either with the mask fully on or off, but I like what it represents a lot! Thank you for the comment!

2024-08-16 22:38:28 +0000 UTCthe batman mask seems to come off whenever schierke is able to reach guts in his subconscious while he's in berserk mode. but the mask comes on when he is blinded by rage or bloodlust, which is what triggers the berserk mode in the first place.

I like the “concept” of Batman Guts in theory, but I think overall I like him either with the helmet fully on or fully off – preferably fully off so we can see his handsome face! :3 Moby Dick, Flipper, and Bubbles are iconic Makara names, though Snuffles might be my favorite! And DOUG! HA! The other names are precious, too! 😛 I do love Schierke and how her magic has grown and I love the concept of her turning dark spirits into agents for her to use – it’s fascinating how they agree to help her; I guess as long as it’s for the sake of destroying, they don’t care who it benefits…hm….I will likely save this very conversation for a future volume. “Take your daughter to work day!” HA! I really do love the relationship she’s developed with Guts; it really is like a father and daughter in a lot of ways. I agree, Guts turning down the Ganishka was one of the most satisfying moments of the series so far! He’s come SO FAR – but “Science Bitches” is hilarious! And ahh, Naussica is one of the few Miyazaki movies I haven’t seen - I need to put that on my list, though! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! Honestly, I think I may have left Zodd on the sidelines for 32 because I was afraid I’d chuck him across the room in surprise/emotional response! 😛And I want to keep him safe! ;)

2024-08-12 17:47:49 +0000 UTCI too am not a fan of Batman Guts. All I see is Batman. Which I guess is fine. Obviously Miura loves Batman and Star Wars! Me and a friend were mall walking and we past the Lego store. They had a display up of Batman. I said, “look! It’s Guts! “ we had a bit of a chuckle. 🤭 oh well. It’s what we got! My new hobby is naming these beasties! We got 5 Makara: Snuffles, Doug, Flipper, Moby Dick, and, Bubbles. The Snake: Noodle -of course! The Garuda: Pebbles! I absolutely love the Garuda! ❤️ Schierke has grown into her magic! It’s been subtle. When we first met her, she needed magical charms to cast a spell. Now, she just needs time! No Ivalera posting symptoms on the walls, no sticks or salt or rope, she just has her own will! She does have an affinity for finding dark spirits! I love the piggyback ride that Guts offers her when she can’t walk. Then it happens! She ethereal body gets separated from herself and she is in the armor! I call this take your daughter to work day! What a fight! Everyone contributed! Guts turning down Ganishka was definitely a high point! He has come a looong way! Now this is pure head canon, when Guts uses the sword as a lightning rod, I want him to yell with excitement, “Science bitches!” I’ll keep that to myself! Hahahaha! The flying apostles remind me of the insects in Hayao Miyazaki’s Naussica. Well, the more insect looking one do anyway. ☺️ Talley Ho to volume 32! Bring Zorg for the resolution of the cliffhanger!
