.....or Phasmosaurs?
Maybe people would much rather have a carnosaur shaped like a carnosaur, but I think Mortasheen's token carnosaur is gonna end up shaped more like a scorpion. It's a lot more....Mortasheeney.
When I was pretty young, I had this silly idea for what I called a "miniworld," where you came up with your idea world, which you were allowed to populate with exactly ten animal species and ten unique characters.
The idea was that you could travel to and from it as you pleased, but it could a...
I probably won't really call this ectosaurs, probably. Their design motif is already blatantly ripped off The Real Ghostbusters and that might just be going a little too far. Maybe.
I've known for years I eventually wanted to do a "ghost"-themed Mortasheen monster class, and I've known almost ...

Some people love the Arthropoid, Krabhorrent, but since almost the day I uploaded it a zillion years ago I haven't felt quite satisfied. I just stuck crab parts on an upside-down head! Way too predictable for Mortasheen, honestly.
I've shown some defunct ideas for it on here, but this is the l...

The seahorse-like monster here is a rough idea that began as an original fakemon, which was a ground/fire glass-making monster. As a Mortasheen concept, it'd be a silicon-based bioconstruct that melts glass in its stomach to project as a weapon and/or building compound.
Next to it is a new cou...

Some of you have seen the rough beginnings of some of these.
The "brain owl" I've been drawing for ages has basically evolved into a little worm-man, who releases mind-controlling spores. Maybe a type of wormbrain that doesn't actually use a pre-made host body?
To the left is a meteo...

More of the creature cards from the board game I illustrated, Chimera Isle, which didn't seem to take off.
Each head, body and tail is a separate card in the actual game, so all of these creatures are completely randomized, but this was how I drew them.
These body part cards, in ...

Many years ago, I was actually commissioned by a virtual pet website,
fae-sim, to draw some creatures they would be using as smaller
collectible pets, like the "petpets" on neopets. They liked all three of
the nuckelavees I came up with, and this is one of them!<...

For $10+ patrons, this file contains ideas for adventuring locales within Mortasheen city - none of these are in the main RPG book, but some day, they could be expanded upon and reworked into official content!
This is an experimental preface to a text series that would accompany Awful Hospital and all related works. I promised it as a future goal, and if we reach it, it will also include illustrations and work like a humorous encyclopedia of bizarre places and entities, basically its own side series that'...

After the last hyper-detailed mess (Barnaclops) I just needed to do something with one of my simpler, cleaner designs.

A couple of you may have seen most of the original Mortasheen book art for the brief period it had its own facebook page, but none of that is available online anywhere now.
I see a million mistakes here, but this was my illustration of an area of the city called the rust bog, half-flooded with...

(Also here's some old character doodles)
Keep this a secret for now, but I've gotten the final word that the Mortasheen RPG, at least the game system, is more or less ready to go.
It's been five years since we publicly announced we were working on this game, and actually six and a ha...

Exclusive to the Mortasheen RPG are eight unique and terrifyingly powerful mechanoid beings.
MRS (mars) actually turned out to be my favorite design of them, being one of the most abstract. This twisting, giant machine burrows underground, creating sinkholes that can swallow a small city.

We saw a bunch of Fern's corpses turn into the mutants Jay refers to as "Slobs," but there are still many more of them. These were some other ideas when developing the one Jay shot in the plank maze.
I don't know if I'll ever use this concept - Awful Hospital is becoming pretty crowded as it is - but early in the series I considered that the actual symptoms of illness might have associated entities. Fever and Chills in the lower right were the first two I came up with.
We actually haven't ...

One of the illustrations I did for the indie game Crystal Catacombs!
Again, art that now looks incredibly old and fairly bad to me already... but it was fun!
For the maybe-defunct vampire book I was working on with someone a couple years ago, the Upier is described in mythology as a "hideously ugly" vampire with a harelip and a stinger-like tongue.
I went all the way and made the whole thing a warped mutant, with its face sort of "caving in" to...

These are two of the very oldest and possibly most neglected Mortasheen creatures, originally even conceived as "starters." Over time both varied a lot in designs ranging from really cutesy to a bit too tryhard, but I think these possible revamps combine their many previous incarnations in a nicer w...
