Maybe I have a few too many gas and smog monsters, but this image of a lung-bird-goblin won't get out of my head and I figure it breathes burning, black toxic soot, like a cigar smoker.
It may make more sense as one of the Ectosaurs?

A sketch over thirteen years old of an unmade Mortasheen monster
Later this Halloween season, I'm illustrating and cataloging various things that should count as Halloween creatures, but aren't usually recognized as such.
They include the ultra-common witch hats and witch cauldrons with legs, but possibly also owl-like creatures, monster cats, pseudo-spide...

Another I came up with myself for the recent gross/dirty pokemon I was commissioned to draw.
The original sketch page which, years ago, resulted in Mortasheen's Zombie Spawn series. I like how that Festerling looks a little better than the final drawing it became.
What were these for??? Probably nothing in particular
These were thumbnail concepts for a friend's sci-fi horror boardgame idea, though it didn't progress a whole lot farther. These were just to help narrow down an overall style; whatever alien they liked would become the basis for several variant creatures and life cycle stages.
These are quite old, and you may notice one of them evolved into a Mortasheen monster already (tyrannitoma)
I know updates were a little slim, but we're in the process of moving and I've got the Halloween stuff going on; I'll be making up for it pretty big in October, both for Mortasheen and hopefully for Awful Hospital!
I didn't get a chance to do the monthly patron monsters in all the rushing aro...

Kinda bare bones, I might flesh it out more later! With this and Dynaphyte, I should do at least one more "mounted weapon" monster or two.

Toying with a more black and purple scheme I might like a little more, and more arthropod-like eyes.
This monster almost feels like a very different style from Mortasheen and I feel like I need to come up with one or two related, similarly styled monsters to further "justify" it.

may make more adjustments, not sure about eye color. Should every eye be a different shade?
Maybe some of this one is a bit much, but I think I like it for the most part. New writeup coming soon!
A classic and fairly popular Mortasheen creature. This remains roughly the same design, but more menacing, with many many more "stolen" teeth throughout its body, one of its distinguishing traits in the first place.

Another of the first-ever Mortasheen monsters, Golgotha has always been a very, very awkward design. I was going for a sort of chibi pyramid-head cultist thing back in the day.
I've tried to make it more believable as a creature here, but remain true to the spirit of its original design. 2016-08-27 07:14:37 +0000 UTC View Post
I realize I have only four days left in the month, but while I'm still visiting family here in MD, I plan to crank out some flashy revamps for some VERY old and neglected monsters.
Malignus used to just be a Jason Voorhees head with some hooks on chains. I'm now thinking of it like an organic...
Like Dynaphyte, this is a hanging, gun-like monster that can be picked up and used as a weapon by other monsters.
The eyeballs inside the head, like a barreleye fish, was a last-minute idea; originally the head was going to be full of the biting ammunition-larvae.
I'm not sure if I like how ...

This is one of the last of these I can share that aren't raunchy ones.
A princess of the Orlok race, she trains in Mortasheen city to one day return to her colony and free her 10,000 siblings from their overbearing queen mother.
For the name of a hypothetical creepy-humorous board game:
"Horror at Horrid House"
Or
"Horror on Horrendous Hill"
Because I'm thinking of making exactly that.
Tiny, quick ideas for another line of Biomecha, car themed.
One of my ideas for biomecha was that each "series" of them would allude to one of the other monster classes. I considered that these might actually be zombie themed; rusty, rotten, and constantly regenerating.
Maybe it's similar in some ways to some existing monsters, but a humanoid leech mutant feels like a long time coming? It might end up being one of the Vampire Spawn.
I think I like it without visible teeth.

If you missed me talking about this, I was paid by a comedy group to draw some parody pokemon for some sort of show at a convention. I don't know the further details, but it was a lot of money and a super professional process, arguably the first serious "art job" I've ever been hired for.
And...
This is an upgrade to an existing drawing; the middle mutant used to be more human-looking, but once these three became named characters in the book, I wanted them all to be equally weird.

A long overdue update of the "starter" Mortasheen monster; this has been a month of giving upgrades to some of my old favorites, but next month I'll be doing more ...

I'm actually getting PAID by someone (a pretty decent rate) to draw some parody pokemon for some kind of comedy thing.
Most of their requests aren't work-safe. It's pretty basic humor, some celebrity parodies and a whole lot of penis jokes.
But there's a few I came up with myself that they ...
