Couple of funny creatures
Inside the pet is a thimble, a spool for three threads. Several needles/pins are placed inside the spool. The standard thimble also fits.

Why hexagon? The designers made ordinary oval links many times, including me. Given that this is a contest on printables, the form of the links was obvious. As a lock I use 6 round magnets 5x3mm.
