Well, the title says it all. Shit happens and it's one of those. or maybe but I highly doubt it.. it was recorded right and unfortunately reverb is put on first and very wet.

Totally jealous of your late 90's setup. Regardless, see the bussing as a way to control rhythm/accentuate it. If you have a super rhythmic low end then I would try and control that via a bus together with the kick. This way the kick will compress down more and make that the prominent feature of ...

Auto pan will give you the exact same sound panned left to right (generally sounds nice on 16th). Delay will give you a different texture from the first hat that can ping pong or mid side (especially nice on 1/8th). However, watch out adding in more hats with the latter as it can quickly become c...

Alright, so it's all good. Here are changes you need to do before friday.
1. Up hat in the middle not on the left.
2. Random fun sends on the main stab
3. Secondary stab in the middle (it can be in stereo via reverb but not out of phase on the right)
4. Bridge add a ...

The drums are a tad too loud but only in the mid. Whatever happened with processing, half it or delete it. That should solve the problem in one go. The next thing is the percussion is way way way too low. Saturate it heavy and cut so that it's audible and short in the 80hz above register. I...

Can saturation not be harmonic.. (no it can't). But it can be inharmonic (even-odd harmonics). For the rest I give a lot of tips on vocal processing and specifically setting up.

Absolutely brilliant job on the main sound. There are a few things that are misplaced but all the ingredients are there. So, just please finish those last parts off (get obsessed :)

It all comes down to one of those auto filter boxes and letting it be driven hard. I can't tell the notes in one go but at the end of the day if you set the glide up correct and get the right notes it comes down to experimenting with autofilter plugins or the ableton version. It's all in the dist...

If you are producing and have no treatment than you can get the prettiest once you want. If you want to mix instead first fix your room via acoustics.

Again, use it for a bad mix/bad master or if you have to go death magnetic loud. Personally I would fix anything that is messing with the limiter too much in the mix. You can clip those tracks, or if it's a mastering situation try RX or multibanding away the issue. At the end of the day your limi...

In the specific case to dBora. Make two busses. One for Staccato and the other for Legato. Short burst of sound vs Long sustained notes. On the Short sounds plop the clipper on the Long sustained group plop in a limiter. Put them both up the same amount. Then on your main master drop in your last...

My thoughts on his mastering chain is the same as always. The more you do the worse it gets. He is a perfect example of overthinking. I highly suggest you watch Dan instead: https://www.youtube.com/...

Four Tet used FM. It's a UK thing and I absolutely love it haha. It's super easy to do. Just adjust open up operator. Use A as the sub, B into it with the coarse up level up and set the decay short. After for the counter melody just put the coarse further up.. Bob's your uncle, Fanny's your aunt....

/here is a general video on drums. It all comes to compression, not cutting too much and making sure you slap the banana's out of your drumbus. That way you will always have heavy drums

Make a send, pop on what ever you need it to be. In this case a reverb and delay group and after put a compressor that side chains to the lead. Space will appear more after the lead is played. As for compression etc, I suggest first getting all staccato (rhythm) elements playing nice and tight to...

It's a sample played in a sampler of any type without warping. Pitch is played via a keyboard as you can hear the steps. Does not have to be a keyboard btw but you can just hear the jump in pitch.

Use a correlation meter. If you are in the +1 area all of that will be mono compatible. Even if you have stereo information. All the elements that are below 0 will be out of phase and that is not the worst thing in the world. It just means that if someone would play back in mono that element woul...
