On a rational level, I know perfectly well that the way a lobby looks at 9am is different from what it will look like by lunchtime. But it's still really weird to head down to the underbelly of the hotel in the morning before anyone's around, then not come back up until the place is packed.
As I've mentioned on numerous occasions, I miss very little about living in Washington DC. But man, it's a great place to have the thought "I feel like taking a walk". And I didn't even make it down to any of the "historic" places, I'm just talking about wandering around the neighborhood...
