Health Update

It seems we're still carrying a lot of the weight of 2024 into 2025.

We've been struggling with our health on and off for a few weeks now, with L and I going through alternating periods of who's well enough to function and for how long. We've been powering through for the most part but obvi...

CoESC Book 16-18.3: The Cape Life

An Invisible Edge slashed into the base of the tentacles that were about to pulp Multiman but unexpectedly, her Edge barely managed to carve an inch into the shadowy stuff before it got snuffed. Frowning, she immediately infused Radiance into the Edge and sent it off. This time, it visibly cut th...

Yuriko couldn’t help herself. She just floated above the fighting, about fifty paces away, and just watched. She perched on top of a tenement building five storeys high. It had a flat roof and a guard wall that was about thigh high to her. It was grimy and stank of dried feces, rotting pigeon f...

Yuriko flew about five hundred paces above the ground in a brand new cape costume. It was a form-fitting outfit, black tights, a red half skirt that fell down to just below her knees, a white button-down, and a red cropped jacket over it. She wore black gloves, a long black scarf and a mo...

Her entire foray didn’t take more than a couple of hours, but by the time she returned to her apartment, Captain Hays still had not replied. She sent the same message to the HAMA club captain, Walter Richards and was now waiting for a reply.

In the meantime, she hurried to Scarlett...

Yuriko pressed down on Scarlett with her Anima, holding her in place. The woman shrieked, but the sound didn’t propagate past her aura. She pulled the girl closer and touched her forehead.

“Scar…” Yuriko said softly. The connecting thread between the two of them pulsed oddly, with d...

The trip to return across five biomes took a lot less time than their initial exploration. Yuriko walked absentmindedly while she used her perception slivers to keep a careful watch of their surroundings. Carina looked flummoxed even after the half an hour they spent crossing three biomes. Yuriko...

The Radiant flame tornado roared to the skies. The grey storm clouds dispersed revealing pale blue skies. The tornado rose beyond the clouds and roughly a league above. There it hit a…ceiling. The flames spread out, consuming, propagating. Radiance consumed everything to make more of itself, st...

The giant golem was suddenly visible in the distance. The storm pulled back the snow just enough that there was a clear corridor between Yuriko and the monster, and the aftereffect of its prodigious roar cleared the rest. Carina huddled behind the wall of swords Yuriko used to block, but the Ultr...

Yuriko felt the Arclight Crescent stop midway into the golem’s body. Since it was infused with Intent, Radiance, and Bladeless Sword, she was well and truly connected with the attack. So she felt exactly what happened.

First, the crescent hit the outer shell. It carved through it ea...

“Are we still going south?” Yuriko asked once they reached the relative center of the biome.

The hills made it a bit harder to make sure, and only her perception sliver could actually sense things. Obviously, it didn’t make for a very good long-range sensor, but if not for the fact th...

“Where and when?” Yuriko asked.

“On the 14th,” Zach answered quickly. “A town west of Neo Prism, almost in the next state, actually. Nordham, along route 16. I’ve got the address here.” He forwarded the message to Yuriko’s phone. “He asked to meet by...

The two men, despite belonging to different factions, equally stiffened and reddened in outrage. The first one, who had rudely told Yuriko and Carina to leave, choked on his own vitriol as his hand darted to his sidearm, which happened to be a large handgun, or rather, a revolver with lar...

Yuriko’s perception aura spread across the biome. It was supposed to be a couple of longstrides across, and it was an irregular shape, according to the map. It was mostly flat and covered with wild grass as tall as her waist. The horned bunnies’ burrows were concealed under them, and ...

From the edge of the Shangria System, it took nearly a couple of days to actually approach close enough to make out what the planet looked like. Yuriko had been mistaken. It wasn’t an orbital ring around the planet, but five rings, each just offset from each other that from afar, it looked like...
