Dummy by Portishead

I was a bit hesitant to put an album in this month's post due to listing four of them previously, but Dummy is just too good to pass up. It's sound and subject matter are timeless in their portrayal in writing, singing, and composition.

It can be listened to with a single track on repeat or experiencing from start to finish, the latter being particularity special thanks to the albums concept and story that's told as much by the sound as it is by the lyrics. They work hand in hand to create darkly catchy romp.

The Founder

1950's Social Network isn't going to blow you away, but it's a wonderfully executed film for being everything it should be with this story. It's one I was not familiar with, but knew beat for beat before pressing play. There's no way that McDonald's became the global juggernaut it is today through kindness with its creators.

Michael Keaton is pitch perfect as Ray Kroc with his charisma and enthusiasm being infectious enough to make you briefly forget his slime bag intentions, but it's hardly a one man show. The entire cast from Nick Offerman to Linda Cardellini nail their performances. Making for a story that's predictable in the most tragically engaging way.

Max Payne

For reasons completely unrelated to my next video, Max Payne is the title that really put Remedy Entertainment on the map. A product of passion that came out at exactly the right time, Max Payne is a thoroughly entertaining game that takes you on a roller coast of darkness, laughs, nightmare, and action all bathed in a John Woo Film Noir combo that's a match made in heaven.

That and beating it allows you to move onto the in my opinion, superior sequel.
