The Defiant Ones By HBO

When "Documentary" is said, people typically think of talking heads with minimal music and editing. This is done on Television networks that can't afford a larger budget, or Independent filmmakers without the money or talent to make something greater.

The Defiant Ones is greater; telling the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre.

Nearly every name mentioned is interviewed, it uses music from the artists it follows beautifully, and the editing is immaculate.

The only problem is - as with most bigger documentaries - parts of the story don't get the detail they deserve, such as the saga of Trent Reznor and his relationship with TYT Records.

But by the end, it's hard to not feel inspired.

Sigur Ros - Von

This isn't an album you use to throw yourself around the room, or to bawl your eyes out to its poetic lyrics. Sigur Ros' debut is used for pure atmosphere through sound.

It's mood ranges from somber to delightful, but it's always with an undercurrent of bittersweet.

Sigur Ros is making wonderful tracks to this day, but his debut is the one I go to for a complete album.

You by Austin Grossman

I could've sworn that I recommended this book in the past but apparently not. That's probably because this isn't one you should check out because it's amazing. It's not.

But the premise and topics this novel brings up are going to be appealing to anyone who identifies as a gamer. About a man who joins a game developer run by friends of his past, and formerly lead by his dearest and most gifted colleague. It's written by someone who worked during the golden years at Looking Glass Studios and it shows.
