Speaking of space sims, what's your take on Star Citizen? 

Game of everybody's dreams IF it becomes reality.

As for Planetside 2, that update looks pretty nice! Haven't played seriously in quite sometime, though I hold fond memories of epic battles on that game. Definitely appealed to more of my personal taste than the usual MMO.

When's the last time you went to an Arcade? And what are some of the best arcade exclusive games you've played? 

Actually, not that long ago. Here in BC, there used to be a multi-floor arcade called Playdium and it was childhood heaven. I'm quite jealous of those of you located in Ontario who still have one, but sadly, ours didn't survive and closed its doors many moons ago.

However, after I finished watching a movie in Metrotown recently, the Mega-Mall Playdium used to be at, I stumbled upon a new arcade in a similar spot. It was quite unexpected and refreshing! Even got to play a game I never thought I would called JuBeat, a Japanese rhythm game where buttons are also the screen.

This is when arcades are at their best, making way for games that just wouldn't be possible or practical in a normal house-hold. However, as nostalgic as it was, the annoyances also showed up. Mediocre shoot-em ups like the Halo on-rails game, broken equipment, and racing games with pay-to-win passes.

There's going to be a new Playdium equivalent at the recently renovated Brentwood Mall called "Rec Room" that will hopefully do what most small local arcades don't, and that's innovate this special thing which died after the 90s. Think of it this way, when DOOM was brought back by ID, they didn't just give the OG game a new coat of paint. They created a new experience, that recaptured the feeling. Arcades need to do the same, not just dust enough another broken cabinet of Time Crisis 4.
